The battle for souls is fierce for those living behind bars. How can the power of God's light penetrate the darkness of "Satan's playground"? Offering 365 daily readings, this moving collection of Scripture and prisoners' stories reveals God's protection, purpose for suffering, and eternal love for each of us---including society's most shunned people. These collective, true stories will especially touch those who are uncomfortable with prison ministry, helping them to develop compassion for the shunned souls of society.

Grieving Parent4 Stars Out Of 5Stories of Faith and Courage from PrisonDecember 28, 2014Grieving ParentQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Bought 3 so could give one to another parent with an incarcerated child, send one to my son, and keep one for myself. Encouraging and comforting to me as parent of an incarcerated child. Sending it to him to hopefully minister to him, bring him to knees to cry out for his need for Christ in his life, and bring Christ's joy and hope to him in this awful situation. The book would be a little better if the stories started out with some inmates stories instead of someone outside of prison.

It is heart-wrenching and heart-warming. Each story is so personal. It is such a good mixture of first-hand experiences of inmates and of people who minister to inmates. It is very personal and helpful to me as I have been in a correspondence prison ministry to inmates for over 30 years. It shows how fragile life can be in a prison situation. Each inmate needs God's protection daily and much prayer! This is such a well-rounded book that whether or not you know someone in prison or not, it will still be very interesting simply because it features such personal stories - and they are always interesting!
Jim HarrisAlabamaAge: 45-54Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Great perspective for this type of ministry workDecember 14, 2012Jim HarrisAlabamaAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Having lived part of this book makes it really special to me... Seeing that there are so many different people who are impacted by incarceration today in America makes me sad on one hand but glad on the other. The sad part is because there are not nearly enough people who care; this book should help change that. The glad part is to see from those different perspectives or from other's eyes how the Lord impacted them while they were there doing as the Lord directed them, be it in a job or as a minister. It also highlights for me personally that the Lord does work through people to impact the lives of others... Read about me starting on March 22nd and you will understand how much of an impact you can make and how instructive this book will be for you!
Alphonso SpenceCenterville, OhAge: 55-65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5Spiritually motivating.December 14, 2012Alphonso SpenceCenterville, OhAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book is about the work of the Lord among real people navigating life's experiences and being saved to experience full and contributing lives. It is not only about those in the circumstance but also those who the Lord placed in offenders' paths, resulting in sometimes miraculous outcomes for both parties.
The authors thoughtfully placed scriptures with each of these true stories which helps create a wonderful platform for daily bible study and discussion. And... I really like that the book can be used to help those in similar circumstances to see what is possible when the eye and heart is placed on the Lord. One can see and almost feel how the Lord multiplies the outcomes when those in need meet those lead to help others experience the Lord's grace. This is a superbly authored and unique book. I believe collectors will relish this work which will lead souls to Christ.
