Kristen Heitzmann's characters leap from the page with a balance of strength and fragility as they face anguish from the past. Jill and Morgan, once high school sweethearts, had loved and lost--each other and the baby whom Jill gave up at birth. Years later, Morgan is outwardly successful, but he is still haunted by the memory of the tiny child. And then Jill shows up again in his life with very disturbing news. With her trademark dramatic storytelling, Heitzmann takes readers on an unforgettable journey with two wounded souls as they struggle toward healing and restoration.
Kristen Heitzmann was raised on five acres of ponderosa pines at the base of the Rocky Mountains where she still lives with her husband and four children. A musician, Kristen delights in sharing the traditions of American heritage, both through one-on-one interaction and through her bestselling historical series THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN LEGACY and the DIAMOND OF THE ROCKIES. Her newest books, including Twilight and A Rush of Wings, feature the landscape of America today.

What happens next?October 4, 2013mom69Alberta, CanadaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have read other books by Kristen Heitzmann and really like her style of drawing out empathy from the reader. I enjoyed this book so much, I had a hard time putting it down. There was much deeper spiritual journey in this book, her characters really go through challenges. I love how this one was not an easy road but a real test of faith and trusting that God knows best. To my experiences and dealings with people this book was very real.

Jill, haunted by past decisions, pours herself into her special kids at school and shuns intimate relationships because of the hurt from the past. Morgan, outwardly successful, pours himself into fixing everyone's problems, but drowns his own hurts in his business and alcohol. But all of that changes when they reconnect and face a struggle together. This is a book to return to again and again, to see the Lord working in two lives to bring them closer to Him, and to heal the hurt in their lives.

I think if I had the time, I would consume it all in one day! I love the repackaging b/c the blue cover copy that I have ~ the description on the back did not do the story justice. I am so glad to see it repackaged with the new summary of their child!
