Tell us a little about yourself. I am a retired Salvation Army Officer (Pastor) having served with my husband in 15 various communities over a period of 42 years. I am the mother of two grown children, and grandmother to 5 grandchildren. I work part time for The Salvation Army in Conway, SC, mostly teaching and planning various programs and activities.
What was your motivation behind this project? For years, a part of my ministry was to try to make the Bible "come alive" by portraying women of the Bible through dramatic monologues. I wrote, performed and/or directed over 30 such monologues over the course of my active ministry. One day, the Lord spoke to me during my quiet time with Him, and reminded me that He had not given me these monologues for myself only, but rather to be shared with others. From that point on, I aggressively sought to compile them and get them published!
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that folks will be able to see the characters in this book in a new light - as being real and human, just like us. To feel their pain, struggles, temptations and victories, and to be encouraged along the way. As God was with these Biblical characters, and worked in their lives, so He can be with us in this modern age.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was blessed beyond measure myself in putting this book together. I have included a study guide in the back of the book to hopefully stimulate discussion and dialogue, as well as deeper delving into God's Word. I was greatly helped and challenged myself in putting this all together.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I have been greatly influenced and inspired by the writings of Max Lucado, Calvin Miller, and Dr. David Jeremiah to name a few of my favorites.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: This is not a deep theological book. It is simple, easy to read and understand. My earnest prayer is that Jesus, His followers, and other characters in this book will truly "come alive" with fresh appeal and relevance. My permission is given for others to perform these as dramatic pieces, but I truly pray that others will use the book as a group Bible study or personal devotional book as well. To God be all the glory!
