Publisher's Description

As World War II is being fought, Dale and his friends reach a long-awaited moment—the day they are old enough to play a musical instrument. Little does Dale know that his decision to play the cornet will take him on the adventure of a lifetime, or that his talent will one day be put to the ultimate test: saving his beloved town. Enlightening children on a defining era in American history, this story combines the spirit of true friendship with the sheer joy of making music.

This is the first book in the Adventures With Music Series where the musicians are the heroes. To find a series where the musicians are the heroes and teaches morals and history all woven into an adventures story is great. Be sure to read the next two books Dog Tags and Summer of First. The adventures really come together.
