Tell us a little about yourself. When I baked cherry macaroon cookies back in 1997, I never dreamed God had a whole new ministry in mind for me. Quite the contrary! Having experienced a divorce after a 30-year marriage, I was overwhelmed with grief, regret and shame. I thought God could never use me because I was now branded with the D-word.
What was your motivation behind this project? The Lord was very near during the trauma of my divorce, and I want to tell other women that they can count on Him too. This goes for widows too! Dealing with the issues that arise from sudden changes in marital status can be a difficult and lonely experience.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? "Starting from Scratch When You're Single Again" maintains that if women will seek God and surrender whatever situation they are facing to Him, He will turn their despair to hope and redeem their suffering. Not only will they survive--they will thrive!
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? These 24 true stories based on interviews not only minister to women but also serve to educate men about the plight abused women and children often endure in silence. I give "Starting from Scratch" Workshops, bake cherry macaroon cookies to take along, and offer daily inspiration and recipes on our blog. This is a very exciting time! God is good!!
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Always remember that if we cling to God in our grief, He will redeem and restore. That is the "Starting from Scratch" message, and God is paving the way to proclaim it. We designed a bookmark that reads, "Be thankful for whatever God is doing in and through your suffering. Trust that eventually He will make everything right" (quoted from page 212).
