Her message is very encouraging and motivating. Positive words and doable actions combine to ensure a good experience and results. A fitness trainer who has lived the program knows what works best and tells it like it is. Without total commitment and realistic goals, one cannot expect the change that they want to see. She shares many great tips and wonderful recipes to follow for success. The recipe and food guidelines are worth the price of the book. This is a great, user-friendly guide and resource to help with the journey to a better, healthier you. I recommend this book that I received through TBCN in exchange for an honest review. Whether you choose to follow everything verbatim or just choose to embrace parts of her plan, it will be a step in the right direction to a healthier life. Her success story and the accounts of others who have followed her program attest to the methods that work. What do you have to lose? Everyone can benefit from her excellent ideas and motivations.
nkwbookreviewer4 Stars Out Of 5Encouraging, informative weight loss bookSeptember 5, 2016nkwbookreviewerQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Kick-Start The New You by author Ingrid Macher is published by Whitaker House. This 221 page paperback Health & Fitness book states on the cover that it provides "Health and Weight Loss Tips for Amazing Results" and shows a picture of the trim author. The appealing cover also pictures an apple with a tape measure draped around it and says at the top "How I lost 50 pounds in 90 days."
In her 15 chapter book, author Macher provides tip after tip to help in the battle to loose weight and get healthier. Tips such as which drinks to avoid (diet drinks and coffee for example) and fourteen super foods to use (oatmeal and turmeric for example). The author provides a lot of health information and knows her stuff. She is a certified personal trainer and holistic health coach who has spent many years determining what is successful for weight loss. Author Macher shares the story of how she lost 50 pounds in 90 days and kept it off for over ten years. Her plain is not a new one, but it worked for her. It is nice to read again common sense things we all know to get motivated in the battle to become healthier.
The book includes many tools to aid in the quest to lose weight. She shows how there are mental tricks we can use on our body and mind to help. Things like drinking a glass of water before eating to feel fuller or chewing your food twenty five times before swallowing to make your stomach think you are eating more. There is a section on reasons not to count calories and one on how to get started. Before and after pictures are included to show success. There are even shopping lists, meal plans, and sample recipes to make starting this journey easier.
This is a well written, encouraging book with practical, doable advice. It is a great diet reference and one to refer to often. I thought the author had a nice writing style. She seems to have a passion for helping people realize their goal of becoming healthier. I would recommend it to anyone interested in becoming healthier and/or losing weight. I rated it a 4 out of 5 stars. A copy of this book was provided by The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.
MaryMinnesotaAge: 45-54Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Informative and EncouragingMarch 27, 2016MaryMinnesotaAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4"Kick-Start The New You" by Ingrid Macher is a self-help book. But, it is also an inspirational book! Macher has put together a book that is filled with honesty, openness and information. As she shares some of her hardest moments on these pages, she also shares some of her proudest.
In her book, Macher explains how negativity damages us, and she encourages each person to get started on a personal transformation now. She has included many recipes and 2 eating plans to help everyone do just that. There are also lists of good foods to eat and explanations of how they help the body, as well as grocery lists.
I think the the 5-day kick start would be extremely hard to stick to, but the 21-day plan looks realistic and not too complicated. Exercise is encouraged, as well as drinking lots of water. Overall, this appears to be a very helpful and informative book!
I received this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.
tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5very encouragingMarch 24, 2016tumcsecTuscaloosa, ALAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Ingrid Macher lost 50 pounds in 90 days and in Kick-Start The New You she tells us how she did it and how we can do it too. I must admit I'm a "professional dieter". I've bought every new diet book that comes out. If I stacked them on top of each other they would no doubt reach a mile high. So many of the things mentioned in this book I already knew, but it's always good to get a "refresher course".
I like her positive approach. She is more of a cheerleader than a coach. One of the first chapters tells us to get rid of negativity and concentrate on positive affirmations. She also lists the excuses everyone uses to not lose weight and gives reasons why they should be abolished. She gives lists of what foods are good ones and which ones to scratch. (there's no way I could give up my coffee!) Slow metabolisms are reasons many of us have trouble losing weight (from so many off again, on again diets over the years) and Ingrid gives good advice on how to speed ours up. There's a program to begin our lifestyle change with a twenty one day kick start. It includes over fifty pages of recipes to try. An added bonus is transformation stories of real people that lost weight and regained their health on this program. Those always encourage me.
There are also six different Internet web addresses to get plugged into for questions you may have, or extra encouragement you may need. I find having these are very helpful.
I received this book from the publisher through bookfun.org for my honest review, which I have given. I received no monetary compensation.
muffinHonea Path, SCAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Kick Start the New YouMarch 15, 2016muffinHonea Path, SCAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book was wonderful. It is chock full of ideas and tips to help lose weight and get in shape. It is not like your typical "diet and exercise" book. Sometimes those books are so hard to follow and to read. This book is written in a very easy to read format. It also is written in such a way that the author is just sitting there talking to you. I love the way she starts out with how our attitude affects weight loss. If we have a negative attitude, we will probably never achieve that weight loss. There are 15 chapters all full of useful information. This is a book that I will continue to use probably throughout my whole life. I will definitely keep it as a useful resource. I definitely recommend this book to everyone! I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinion.
