Trixi5 Stars Out Of 5Welcome back to Starlight, IAAugust 2, 2015TrixiQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Dante Moretti, world cup soccer player, Texas-born but living in Italy receives a letter written by two little boys drawing him to Starlight, IA. Amanda Marston is on Christmas break from her teaching position in Florida to attend her brother Jake's wedding. Can these two people from opposite ends of the world find common ground and maybe romance along the way?
Dante is convinced this is mere blip on his way to confirm the letters contents. He stops in the little diner called Barney's for a quick meal and something hot to drink. Amanda arrives a few minutes later to say hello to Caroline, the diner's owner, before heading to her brother's house to surprise him. As fate would have it, his rental car won't start so he's stuck, at least for the night. That just sets the stage for a whole lot of circumstances to bring these two together!
Here we return to Starlight, IA for Jake and Julia's wedding (from Meet Me Under the Mistletoe). I loved revisiting both the town and the people who live there. JoAnn does a splendid job on bringing each character life & depth and breathing life into a fictional town so real, you can picture it in your mind! There she also weaves spiritual themes throughout and references scripture quite seamlessly. I loved seeing Dante's faith not only renewed but deepened and watching Amanda's be steadfast and living out her faith in new ways too! I think I especially loved the ending of this book, a perfect conclusion to a wonderfully sweet romantic story! I can't wait to read the next and last book in this novella series "Sleigh Ride Together with You" where Nicole gets her spotlight!
JoAnn is a wonderfully talented teller of tales and with each book I read, it just gets better! I highly recommend both this book & author to readers of inspirational romance who love strong faith-based stories and characters living out life the best they know how! By the Grace of God :-)

Dante, the Italian cowboy, will warm your heart with his charm and sensitivity. You will find Italian phrases woven within the story for those who love the element of romance created by foreign speaking men. Now just imagine Dante's Italian accent coming from that deep, rich voice. Who doesn't love a man with an accent?
Starlight, Star Bright picks up characters from JoAnn's previous Christmas novella, Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. You will read more about Jake and Julia, as well as Jake's sister Amanda. I loved observing the contrast of Jake's and Amanda's personalities, while enjoying the common spiritual threads they share as brother and sister. For me, an inviting Christmas Christian romance novella needs a quaint little town, snow, an element of surprise, Christian morals, a strong, sensitive man who honors and respects women, and heart-warming romanceââ¬âthis one includes them all.
Dante Moretti, Italian world cup champion soccer player, finds himself in the tiny town of Starlight, Iowa, in search of the author of a letter he holds in his hand. Dante is quite taken by this beautiful young teacher from Florida, and Amanda loves the attention he is showing her. Regardless of her infatuation, Amanda knows this cannot go any further. After all, Dante will be returning to Italy, and she will be going back to Florida. However, a little whirlwind romance seems to be setting stage.

What a story_ a perfect example of Romans 8:28 -- And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Dante has it all- fame, money, fancy red car, his favorite hobby as a career. You name it and he has it, but to him none of it matters because the most important thing in life couldn't be bought with money and it was family, something Dante missed and craved. And our amazing God took a sweet older man's wish to make his supper-soccer-fan wife happy and conjure up a lie to get Dante to visit Starlight. Who knew he would actually come?! And on his first visit into the Barney's wonder of wonders he meets two women that will turn his life around.
Even though residents of Starlight start to get suspicious of Dante and his visit there are others that recognize him and instead of treating him like a star they look beyond his fame to the inner person that hangers for close relationship and a feel of family. He is given it all in Starlight and repays them by doing little repairs around town.
But there is Amanda, and even though we speculate if Dante will leave her and fly away on a whim, there is real danger that Amanda will break his heart and send him on his way by himself.
This is an amazing story, Entertaining, Inspiring, and absolutely the best. Every time I pick up one of JoAnn's books I say this is the best of all her books but then she starts writing again and overpasses my high expectations again and again.
Dear reader you want some Italian spice and Christmas eggnog mix? You got it all in this novel. Small town love and friendship. Funny people. Shy and jealous ones. And then some very protective brothers and friends. I love relationships that have all odds against them they turn the best stories.
JoAnn you are the so good at these stories you leave me speechless!!! Keep it up!!
NanceeGrand Rapids, MichiganAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Charming!December 8, 2013NanceeGrand Rapids, MichiganAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Small town Starlight, Iowa is known for its close community and quirky characters. When Dante stepped into Barney's Diner life as he knew it changed. Waitress Caroline Picasso picked up on him as soon as she spotted his World Cup ring. Goalie for the Italian Soccer League, Dante didn't expect to be recognized in the little Midwestern town. With the Stetson he sported to the subtle Texas accent, Caroline dubbed him "Italian Cowboy."
When Amanda Marston literally "breezed" through the door to the diner that evening Caroline was on high alert. Matchmaker by nature, she spotted the perfect couple, and began to brainstorm how she could bring them together. Back in her hometown for her brother's New Year's Eve wedding, Amanda was enjoying winter once again, after having taken a teaching position and living in Florida. Christmas was in the air and Amanda's spirits were bright as she and her hometown community prepared for the coming of Christmas and the celebrations surrounding this holy day.
Later that evening Dante's rental car refused to start, making it impossible to have repairs made until morning. Dante hadn't prepared to remain in Starlight for the night. Was God trying to tell him something? Caroline offered to house the soccer star which was only the beginning of a series of events that caused Dante to reflect on the course his life was taking. Spending some time in Starlight revealed a life that he missed, family, closeness with friends, and a future with someone to love and share a family. Amanda had sparked in him feelings that he couldn't explain. Is God pointing the way to a life-changing event when Dante's career is waiting in Italy?
This is a delightful Christmas romance, one that is colorful and filled with emotions and a variety of developments. The characters in this book are so well defined they become a part of your life. JoAnn Durgin has a way of making her characters real to the point that you feel like you know them personally. This author is also a master at creating an atmosphere of pure and ardent romance, with God at the center of her characters' hearts. Her own relationship with her husband shines through her stories so that you feel the love in the air as she describes the feelings that her characters evoke in one another. There's intensity in romance without the graphics, leaving the reader "in the moment." I read last year's Christmas romance by this author, "Meet Me Under The Mistletoe," and had the same response, Don't miss this beautiful Christian Christmas romance!
