Hamid rubbed the light from his eyes and looked again. He was not dreaming; it was his stepfather!
The man watched Kinza as a snake might watch a baby rabbit at play, waiting for the moment to strike. And for one breathless moment Hamid was sure that he would reach out and snatch her away. Hamid does not want his little blind sister, Kinza, to be sold to a beggar by their stepfather, so he decides to rescue her. Together they escape from their mountain village to a town where there may be a new home for Kinza. But this is only the start of their adventures.
Will Kinza be safe? What will happen to Hamid, who dares not go back home? Set in North Africa, readers will be delighted by yet another of Patricia St. John's exciting, freshly edited novels.

Carol Morrisey3 Stars Out Of 5March 26, 2010Carol MorriseyThis is a wonderful story, filled with details of life in Morocco and the loveliness of shining the gospel light in a dark place. But it is disappointing that Patricia St. John's delightful writing has been revised at all. I prefer the original text. Nevertheless, new readers will love the story of big brother Hamid and the missionary nurse who rescues his little sister.
Mom in Maine5 Stars Out Of 5September 24, 2007Mom in MaineThis book deeply affected my 8-yr old daughter this summer. She said it helped her truly understand what it means to be a Christian. Patricia St John does a fabulous job illustrating, first through fictional situations, then through the character's gentle explanations of how Christ's love can change us & save us. Put so simply & beautifully. I was impressed & humbled at the same time.
