This devotional is easy to read and takes the reader through Philippians by looking at the verses so the reader can see what is being said. Through the 48 devotionals, the reader gains a better understanding the letters. Dave Branon did an excellent job with this study.
I was given this book by NetGalley and Discovery House Publishing in exchange for my honest review.

In his book, Stand Firm, David Branon gives readers a practical and memorable look at the book of Philippians, showing them how the book can bring help and hope on a daily basis. This book provides a great Bible study model for new believers and believers struggling to figure out how to apply the Bible to real-life situations.
Branon takes the book of Philippians and breaks it into manageable chunks, usually between one and three verses each. Then Branon gives a brief commentary on the verses in a section titled "What You Need to Know," which he follows with a short section on what he believes is the main point of that section. Next, Branon moves on to "How Does This Help Me to Stand Firm," and "What Has to Change," showing readers how the verses can encourage them and transform them.
One of the pluses for me was the fact that while Branon is obviously knowledgeable about the Bible, he presents the material in a down-to earth way. The reader doesn't have to be an intellectual or theologian to understand it. Additionally, Branon brings balance to Bible study with observation, interpretation and application, though he doesn't use those terms. What I mean is that his application of the Word is trustworthy because he spends adequate time helping readers observe and interpret the text. Stand Firm guides normal, every-day people to understand and apply God's Word.
Overall, this is a great book for anyone wanting to dig in to the book of Philippians and explore its theological riches. It's one I'd recommend to Bible study novices, experts and anyone in between.
Note: I received a copy of the book from NetGalley for this honest review. However, the opinions expressed are my own.
