Product Description

Of the 1.2 million abortions performed annually in the U.S., more than 500,000 are performed on college-aged women. They make up 44% of all abortions in the country.

So it is not surprising that there is a large, thriving network of pro-life groups on college campuses. These groups serve to advocate for pro-life and educate other young people about the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual effects that abortion has on women.

While there are online guides and booklets on the topic, there are currently very few if any books that are specifically geared for use by young advocates for this cause. Now there is Stand for Life, a manual that addresses tough questions in a format that is concise and straightforward.

Topics include:

  • Defending your pro-life views in five minutes or less
  • Understanding the sanctity of human life
  • Simplifying the abortion debate
  • Developing a Christian response to abortion
  • Debate: keeping cool under fire
  • Q&As about such thorny issues as unsafe abortions, abortion when mothers lives are at risk, my body, my choice, and more.

I am unabashedly pro-life. I don't even mind saying that I am anti-abortion, although there is much more to being pro-life than just that. This book came to me as a result of a donation that I made to a pro-life organization, Students for Life of America. It is an edition intended by that organization primarily for its members of Stand for Life: A Student's Guide for Making the Case and Saving Lives by the same authors. The book is like a "manual" that addresses tough questions in a format that is concise and straightforward with the design of educating young people about the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual effects that abortion has on women. Basically, it all boils down to one issue. "Are the unborn, like toddlers, members of the human family?" All the available evidence says "YES!"

Of the 1.2 million abortions performed annually in the U.S., more than 500,000 are performed on college-aged women. They make up 44% of all abortions in the country. While there are online guides and booklets on the topic, there are currently very few if any books that are specifically geared for use by young advocates for this cause. Students for Life seeks to fill that gap. Topics include Defending your pro-life views in five minutes or less, Understanding the sanctity of human life, Simplifying the abortion debate, Developing a Christian response to abortion, and Keeping cool under fire. Some of the thorny issues discussed are unsafe "back alley" abortions, rape, abortion when mothers lives are at risk, "my body, my choice," and more. It is extremely interesting and enlightening.

Very readable book by two compassionate, articulate authors who have devoted their adult lives to helping women. I know John Ensor personally (though I will not benefit from this review other than hopefully being able to live in a world that defends the innocent in the way that this book advocates) and he is the real deal. His winsomeness, compassion, care, and ability to get to the point come through well in the book. The tips and encouragement alone are a great resource. Even if you only read any three chapters, it's well worth the price of the book. I've personally recommended it to friends and relatives and will be buying more.

Though it's subtitled as a student's guide, anyone who cares about providing respectful, clear reasons for protecting the innocent would do well to read it.
