It was funny because I am one of about 18 gazillion people that hadn't heard of the prince of preachers. Chalk that up to... I don't know. Something.
Anyway. The person I bought these for is turning his life to God by stepping out of the world and going to the seminary full instead of part time. This is actually millions of dollars worth of change. I know it's possible for I have walked away also. Any aspiring "teacher, preacher, pastor,..." ought to own these. Inspiring messages untainted by pressures of the world. Plus they look beautiful.
So now that I have been exposed to this prince of preachers, I have to buy a set for myself.
My only regret... they were $34.99 when I purchased these less than a month ago. But that's okay. I was more than happy to recieve them at that price.
We purchased this set while it was on sale. I have not had time to read as much as I hope to later on. I am such a fan of Charles Spurgeon and his understanding of corporate prayer within a congregation. He sets before me such an excellent example and helps me remember, it is possible to form prayer groups within a congregation to keep the congregation focused on God's Agenda for it.
used for reference,. i enjoy Spurgeon's use of the English language as well as his direct style. Personally, i find myself ,"deletng" his extreme Calvinistic statements. We each have our "pet" theologies and Chrostology? Great works, nevertheless.
