A Reason for Spelling removes the stumbling block of "useless" work with their richly integrated spelling workbook. Filled with contemporary Bible verses, writing activities and scripture verses, this course also integrates spelling with phonics, writing, and other language arts skills.
This Level B student worktext begins with a phonics section that offer fun activities based on partner letters and sound; this section is completed in six weeks at the rate of 1 page per day (31 daily lessons). This section is great for strengthening comprehension and reinforcing fundamental skills.
There are 30 weekly lessons with five days of spelling lessons, each with a set of 10 words plus 3 challenge words. Level B words include: bate, fast, best, hold, until, asked, most, road, told and more. Arranged in a test-study-test sequence, students will learn through immediate correction of their work.
The student worktext is filled with a variety of fun games that will help students master each week's spelling list. The week begins with a read-aloud story (found in the teacher's guide) to introduce the topic and Scripture text for the week. Students then complete a preview exercises that assesses student familiarity with the ten weekly spelling words (and three optional challenge words); students then complete a number of learning activities and word games and conclude the week with a final test that allows the student to demonstrate progress.
The Level B Teacher Guidebook contains more than 400 pages of detailed instructor information, the stories that begin each week, reproducible worksheets, and lesson plans that correspond with the Level B student work text. Student pages are reproduced at a reducedsize with the teacher notes in the surrounding margins. This book also contains placement tests for Level B, as well as the previous Level A. The weekly Scripture text corresponds with the same week's verse helping to reinforce the Scripture values found in each lesson.
