The materials are very cheaply made and most of the activities in the teacher's manual require many additional materials. My advice is to buy just the worksheets by themselves which come with instructions on each one and are the backbone of the curriculum anyways.
mom in Tx2 Stars Out Of 5missing wall cardsDecember 28, 2015mom in TxQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0very basic most of the way, our daughter loved it but i basically had to rewrite teacher's manual for my husband to use with her as it was both not great, but also it wasn't set up for a single student but a classroom.
the worse part is that after having it for months and progressing to alphabet teaching i learned hat it didn't contain the needed wall cards and they weren't available separately. very frustrated.
MomTexasGender: Female1 Stars Out Of 5disappointedSeptember 17, 2015MomTexasGender: FemaleQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1With all the great reviews I really thought it would be a good program. Having homeschooled for many years I have seen my fair share of good and not so good programs. I have to say this one is one falls into the not so good catagory. The incentive program is nice but I can buy stickers cheaper elsewhere. The songs are truly awful in that they are so repetitive they just aren't fun. For example, the learning to count song is literally counting 1-10 twelve times in a row. That's it. My child enjoyed it the first couple of times and then she was done with it. The teachers handbook was slapped together. For example, they include a poorly constructed clock, with which I can only presume, I'm suppose to teach time telling skills. The teachers book has actually one paragraph describing what to do with the clock. "Practice counting around the clock with the hour hand and saying 1o' clock, 2 o'clock, ect." A quality program would have you work on the concept of time passing not just the hand going around the face of a clock. A new homeschooler, that didn't know better, would have serious problems with the poor instructions in this teachers guide. This is a prevailing problem throughout the entire teachers guide. There are much better programs out there. Stay away for this one.
KylieConcord, NCAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellant program!September 29, 2012KylieConcord, NCAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I bought this because I remember, as a teenager, listening to my brother and sisters learn to read through this program. I went to public school until 8th grade and learned to read by memorizing words. Then I would listen to and watch my siblings use this and I learned my phonics!
My son, 3.5 years when we started this, LOVES this program! He enjoys the music and sings along. He loves all the colorful pictures and is really learning!
