Jennifer4 Stars Out Of 5December 3, 2009JenniferWe homeschool now, but my daughter was in public school in first grade. We have found the Spectrum books to be an excellent additional resource to our curriculum for more focus work. She especially likes the color pictures and I like that each spelling lesson focuses on a building theme (i.e., commonly misspelled words, words with the short e sound, words with ch and th, etc.) I think the grade level is appropriate for most students, especially those who started in public school. My daughter is an avid reader who is fluent in books much above her level, but her spelling is atrocious so she NEEDS this. For someone looking for something advanced I would recommend Horizons Spelling 2nd grade. We tried that first and struggled for half the year before giving up and trying this which was a much better fit for us.
Russell Ellwood1 Stars Out Of 5September 12, 2007Russell EllwoodThis particular product was WAY below second grade. My children looked at it, even the one I have with a learning disability and their comment was; "What do they think we are; BABIES?" Most of the McGraw Hill stuff we have gotten in the past has been excellent. I was really surprised by this one.
