Tell us a little about yourself. As a young woman, I became bulimic due to emotional trauma in my life. When I became a disciple of Jesus, I tried to quit by sheer will power because the Bible says our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. But it wasn't until I began to believe in my heart how much the Lord truly LOVES me that I was set free. The revelation of God's love for me healed the broken places in my heart...when the pain stops, you don't need the coping mechanism anymore. It just fell away. I believe this can happen with any addiction or destructive habit we struggle with. I believe God wants to heal the broken places in our hearts with the revelation of His extravagant love for us!
What was your motivation behind this project? This book reveals the Song of Solomon as an allegory describing the Lord's extravagant love for you. Stories have the power to bypass our minds & speak to our hearts. When understood as an allegory, the Song of Solomon is a powerful love story that will enable you to see with the eyes of your heart. As you identify with the maiden, the Song will enable you to see yourself - personally & individually - as Jesus's beloved, His precious bride.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The great desire in the heart of God is that the love story of the Song of Solomon would reveal to our hearts the breadth, length, height, & depth of His amazing love for us! This is my greatest desire as well.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? The Song of Solomon is such a deep book - the truths it contains could not be mined in a lifetime. I feel like I have only scratched the surface of this treasure, but it has changed my heart in a profound way. It has made me secure in the knowledge that I am the apple of His eye, & He delights in me - just as a father delights in his precious child. There are many verses in the Song that proclaim this truth, but my favorite verse is Song 4:9 "You have ravished My heart, My sister, My bride. You have ravished My heart with one glance of your eyes..." This is the Bridegroom speaking to us, His bride. Webster's dictionary defines the word "ravish" TO FILL WITH GREAT JOY & DELIGHT. The phrase, "with one look of your eyes" refers to the movement of our hearts toward the Lord - it is the time we set aside to pray, to worship, to meditate on His Word, & to talk to Him & listen for His voice to us. The Lord is saying to us in this verse: With one movement of your heart toward Me, with every act of worship or obedience to My Word, with every step you take toward knowing Me in a deeper and more intimate way, My heart is ravished - filled with GREAT joy & delight - over you!
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Mike Bickle (who wrote the foreword) is the authority, in my opinion, on the Song of Solomon Mme. Guyon Watchman Nee J. Hudson Taylor A.W. Tozer Art Katz Rick Joyner
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: This is NOT a book for women only, it is for the entire body of Christ. Men are included in the bride of Christ, just as women are included in the sons of God!
