I received this book from the publisher to review and I chose it because I had never read this author before. I found this to be a light Christian romance that was easy to read and enjoy.

The premise of the story is of two characters who first met while doing internships in college. There was actually a triangle of relationships during this internship involving the two main characters and one important side character. A few years later, our characters come full circle.

During college, Zeke Monroe worked at a refuge house because being a strong Christian he wanted to help others. It was there that he met Julia Dare and Hunter Adams. Neither Julia nor Hunter were Christians but Zeke had hoped to teach them of Gods love through their interactions. Zeke fell in love with Julia and soon their relationship took on a level that didnt mesh with his beliefs. Not long after they parted and their lives changed.

Now as a general manager of a resort, Zeke is at odds with his Christian life. He has lost his parents and no longer knows what to do. He exists. When the opportunity arises for him to come face to face with the one woman he gave his heart to and who hurt him, he finds himself realizing he still loves her even after all they had been through. When he hears that Julia is now a Christian his emotions are turned around so he doesnt know how to handle that news when his own spiritual life is bitterly in pieces.

With the resorts future on the line, Zeke and Julia worked together to create the best wedding in 30 days to impress one of the owners to keep the resort open. As they work alongside of each other, Zeke is tested with his lack Christianity and Julias newly discovered acceptance in God. Julia is a Christian but she hasnt always been and because of that she has made mistakes which has led to her carrying around a secret that she knows will hurt Zeke so she is scared to tell him.

Secrets will always come out whether by our own admittance or by another source. Julia shares her secret with Zeke because that secret will be walking in the door of the resort and possibly ruin all the work they have done. Zeke must face the past and decide if his love of Julia is enough to forgive and move forward.

This is a beautiful story of losing your way and finding it again through redemption, forgiveness and love. Sometimes those who are the teachers will need to be the student in order to remember; which is where Zeke finds himself.

A wonderful developed story involving strong main characters struggling to find themselves with the help of some amazing secondary characters.

Someone Like You is another fantastic novel by Victoria Bylin. I think that what I appreciated about this book was the depth of the characters and the complex issues each of them was facing. The story takes place at Caliente Springs, a resort in California. Zeke manages the place and is doing his best to save the resort in order to prevent so many he cares about from losing their jobs. In a desperate attempt to get more clients to hold events at the resort, he enlists the help of an event planning company which sends a planner to the resort to check it out. The planner happens to be Julia, Zeke's college girlfriend who he has not seen in many years. As I mentioned earlier, readers get to know these characters very well throughout the book. Julia is a fairly new Christian who is growing in her faith while dealing with being a single mom, a difficult ex, balancing work and family, etc. Zeke has been a Christian for a long time, but is having his own faith struggles as he has distanced himself from God and the life he used to lead. Read the book to meet Zeke and Julia and many other great characters including quite a fun-loving goat and to find out if Caliente Springs can be saved!!

I look forward to more of her books in the future. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Julia Dare is a single mom and a new christian. She feels guilt about not having married Hunter Adams, Max's dad, but she knew she could never marry a man like that, not since finding God. She could thank her college sweetheart Zeke for that. Zeke had a heart for God and tried to share Christ with Julia, but she wouldn't listen. That was so long ago, now she's learning to trust God in everything and she took a leap of faith and opened Dare to Dream Events. It's hard standing on her own two feet, especially with an ex like Hunter just waiting and expecting her to fail. She's worried Max will end up like his dad, an egomaniac who uses people, but she's determined to trust God no matter what happens. Besides if she makes too much of a fuss, Hunter may take Max away.

Zeke Monroe is a good man but he's running a sinking ship. Caliente Springs in is desperate need of a makeover and a huge influx of cash. Not for his sake necessarily, but for the 200 employees under him. He can hear his dad's voice telling him how he's disappointing God and he needs to be stronger, but frankly Zeke has had it with God. He tried to be a good christian but that didn't work. He tried to hard and kept almost all the rules and yet he failed. He didn't need God, what he needed was to find a way to save Caliente Springs.

Proverbs 3:5-6 is a message woven through out the book. The message comes across loud and clear without being too preachy, whether it's Zeke trying to save Caliente Springs for the Travers Twins or Julia taking Dare to Dream Events to the next level. God will get you through whatever you face, but it may not be in your time or on your terms.

Someone like you by Victoria Bylin has quickly become one of my favorite books. The colorful characters and heartfelt message will hook you from the beginning. The story keeps a steady pace and has enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the end. The book wasn't all serious it had funny parts too especially where ladybug was concerned. I'll let you read the book to figure out who that is :)

"She gaped at him as he closed the space between them. The moment called for a handshake, but her body swayed toward his, as if her muscles remembered what her heart needed to forget." ~Chapter 1

Someone Like You, by Victoria Bylin, is a beautifully written second chance love story. (Swoon.) I poured myself into this story like melted butterand what a treat.

Working together for a common cause, Zeke and Julia find that feelings from the past are all but forgotten. Together they learn about regression, progress, faith, and forgiveness.

A truly touching story, with a meaningful message, that dragged me through an assortment of emotions, yet left me satisfied. A surprisingly quick read.

Ms. Bylin does a fabulous job of incorporating faith, without being preachy or over-the-top, and creates absorbing, credible, and unforgettable characters. Her writing style is engaging and smooth.

I was excited to receive a complimentary copy from the publisher for my honest opinion, and I wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed the story of Julia and Zeke finding love again after six years of being apart. This was not only a love story, but a story of redemption. I was most struck by the story of Zeke, a manager of a resort that has seen better days. After years as a young man of not feeling he could live up to his father's standards of righteousness, Zeke has become angry and cold toward God. An unexpected reunion with his college girlfriend, Julia, leads him down a path he never expected to go, and he finds not only the love of Julia but the love of the God he rejected.

Julia is a recently single mother of a precious little boy Max. Along with the help of her mother, she is attempting to raise her son while building a new business, dealing with Max's arrogant father, and growing in her new found faith. She never expects to run into Zeke on a job assignment at the resort, but through a series of circumstances, we see her growth as a business woman, a mother, and a woman of faith.

The story is rounded out with some great supporting characters--some I loved and others I didn't. There is even a "pet" goat to liven things up around the resort.

All in all, Someone Like You, was a great read, and I am happy that I received it just in time for summer vacation.
