Did you think the book of Psalms was only for adults? Think again! Snuggle Time Psalms, written by Glenys Nellist and illustrated by Cee Biscoe, is the perfect way to introduce little ones to the poetry book of the Bible. This padded cover board book uses simple concepts, rhyming text and adorable art to help children engage with the Psalms. Beginning with "Bedtime Peace" and ending with "Wonderful Me!" this collection of fifteen bedtime poems enables young children to discover the One who holds them in his arms, leads them like a shepherd, created them just as they are, and cherishes them with a love that never ends ... snuggle and see!
Glenys Nellist was born and raised in a little village in northern England. Her stories and poems have been published in childrens magazines where her writing reflects a deep passion for bringing the Bible to life for young children. Glenys lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with her husband, David.
Cee Biscoe has been illustrating picture books full-time since early 2008. Her first picture book, Gruff the Grump, was one of the "Reads of the Year" in the Red House Children's Book Awards 2010. Since then she has illustrated several picture books and board books for a variety of publishers, including Grandma Kisses. The board book Sleepy Me was selected for inclusion in the 2012 Bookstart pack, and Messy Me was shortlisted for Lancashire County Council's Early Years Book Awards 2012. She completed an MA in children's book illustration at Cambridge School of Art in 2008.
Fitzysmom5 Stars Out Of 5Review from Rambles of a SAHMSeptember 21, 2016FitzysmomQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Children's books written by Glenys Nellist are always special but this darling book that focuses on the Psalms is a true delight. The book features fifteen different passages in Psalms and takes the concept of the particular Scripture and uses a poem to bring understanding.
After reading it to one of my sweet grands I can imagine enjoying this book over and over again. It is a nice addition to the bedtime routine. The portions are short and sweet so your toddler can pay attention and then hopefully be tucked nicely into bed.
I would be totally remiss if I didn't mention just how lovely the illustrations by Cee Biscoe are. Lots of soft and cuddly animals in beautiful pastel colors. The pictures truly do compliment the story. I look forward to many nights of reading this book and I think you will too.
I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

As soon as they saw this book, and the adorable cover, I heard immediate shouts of now, now!
This cute little board book is just the perfect size for little hands! The illustrations are just precious. There are fifteen bedtime prayers that will bring the psalms into your little ones life. Each page contains a psalm paraphrased for little ones. Some of the words seem challenging or difficult for young children to understand but I just took that as an opportunity to explain the word in terms they would understand. I had their undivided attention throughout the entire story, they loved it!
This book was provided to me free of charge by Book Look in return for my honest review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
contemplativereflections4 Stars Out Of 5Book Review: Snuggle Time PsalmsAugust 12, 2016contemplativereflectionsQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0In "Snuggle Time Psalms," Glenys Nellist and Cee Biscoe bring children and parents on a journey through the Psalms in a fun and engaging way. The thirty page book introduces fifteen different Psalms with topics ranging from finding safety under the wings of God to locating blessings in God's nature. In doing so, young children get a generous sample of the riches found in the Psalms. The author selects a few verses from each psalm and writes a short poem that helps children relate to the core message of those few verses. For example, in the Psalm 23 chapter, the first few verses are highlighted and an illustration of sheep lying on the field depicts how we can find safety and security in having God as the good Shepherd. The words in the poem are simple enough for 1-3 year olds to enjoy while the pictures are vivid and colourful.
I would be happy to recommend this book to young children especially as parents begin to establish a bedtime routine with them. The Psalms have always been central to the Christian life and the variety of themes will allow children to have early exposure to the beauty and magnificence of our Creator. Moreover, having children grow accustomed to hearing and reading the Psalms at an early age will greatly aid their spiritual growth.

Frosty5 Stars Out Of 5Beautiful books to share with little onesJuly 30, 2016FrostyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am a big fan of Glenys Nellist's books. She writes lovely and engaging prayers and poetry. I enjoy them as an adult and highly recommend them for children. In Snuggle Time Psalms she shares a short verse then gives a rhyming prayer. The prayers talk about things a child might think about; fear in the night, being scared, love and friendship. This would be a great book for an early reader to keep by their bed. And it would be wonderful to read with your little one before they go to sleep. Cee Biscoe has created precious illustrations that make the book even more beautiful. Children will love her sweet rendition of animals and nature. If you are looking for a way to share God's love with a child, this is a great pick. I received this book in exchange for a fair review.
