While this book looks like a quick read when you discover its minute 207 pages, the extent and depth of the content make it one that should be traveled through at a snail's pace in order to receive all of the blessings it has to offer.
This book is amazing!! It guides you into understanding that your problems can be the perfect opening to lead you powerfully into the plan that God has in place for your life. Sometimes, when life gets difficult, its hard to see anything positive and/or productive birthing within our pain and torment, but Mark teaches that it is within these moments that God truly displays His presence and describes His will.
This book is one that you will not want to put down until the last page is turned. It is certainly a highly recommended purchase.

I wanted to read it then but never got around to it. So when Waterbrook Multnomah Publishers offered me a complimentary copy of its re-release for review, I gratefully accepted. Batterson says, "God is never early, and He is never late!" That was the case with this book. I'm facing several lions of my own right now, and God has added Batterson's voice to those encouraging me to keep facing them until the job is done.
Overall, I loved the book. It is a challenge to Christians to live a courageous life of obedience to God. Batterson says that righteous living is more than eliminating negative things from our lives; it's choosing to do what's right. Sometimes those right choices will mean doing hard things, taking huge risks, and living counter intuitively. But when God is leading us into it, we don't want to be doing anything else - even if we find ourselves fighting a lion in a pit on a snowy day.
If you're in need of motivation to try something new, something you suspect God is leading you to do, I recommend this book for you.

Revival.October 19, 2016Kara LynnWVAge: 18-24Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love Mark Batterson after I read his book for young adults (All In) a few years ago. His writing style always makes my day, and I eagerly took this book into account. Let me just go ahead and be blunt-this book is one EVERYONE should read.
I need to chase more lions. I need to get out there for Jesus, and In a Pit dares us to do just that.
Through stories, awesome visual pictures, Bible verses, a bit of humor, and tales from his own life, Mr. Batterson hands us one inspiring book.
I wanted to gobble it all up in one read, but at the same time savor it. I read the book however in two weeks, mainly during the evening before bed and in my quiet time first thing in the morning, and I fell in love. I came to see how it can be so wrong to play it safe and how we must see everything, every moment, as a gift from our heavenly Father.
Our biggest problems may just start looking like our greatest opportunities.
I highly recommend this book to anyone (especially young adults seeking the Lord's will as they graduate High School). Be prepared to be dared and get ready to chase those lions.
I got this book free from Blogging for Books in exchange for doing a review of my own personal opinions.
