    Great for Advanced Students

The Intensive Practice series is designed specifically for the quicker-thinking, advanced students of math, and as such, it fits the bill entirely for that purpose. (Singapore Math puts out numerous remedial resources as well.) I use it in a homeschool environment, and it really pushes my children to think. Sometimes they enjoy it, and other times they dont, but the struggle is worth the reward with Singapore Math in general, so we persist. As with all SM resources, it is very important to choose each supplemental book with each specific child in mind. That said, there is absolutely nothing shameful with doing Intensive Practice books a year or more behind the workbooks with a student who struggles. I do this with one of my children. In the case of IP books, better late than never.

More organized study than most workbooks out in the market. I used it without the textbook for this level. It is interesting to see my kids work them through.

Very pleased with Singapore Math so far. My kindergartener was ready for more than basic patterns and numbers so we started her here. The lessons are not too long which holds her attention but we did buy the Intensive practice for the days we need a little more.

I have a sixth grader that needed a fresh start in math. She had/has lots of holes in what she has learned in math. Example, she can calculate range, mean, median and mode and explain what they stand for but could NOT set up the simplest math problem on her own. The intinsive practice books are making her think. The value of the numbers are 1st grade level. But the problems require more thought. The IP book also does not look like a first grade book because it does NOT provide the visual helps like the workbook. The IP book moves much faster than the workbook. I currently have a first grader too. The workbook is great for him...I cannot use the IP book as much with him. He is not ready.

I like this book, but the pictures and especially numbers are too small for my son to read some of, since he has visual challenges. Also, I wish it would go a little slower, not move so quickly.
