Do you enjoy colors? Want to create any color including pastels? Want to demonstrate the physiology of color perception?
This "Simple Color Synthesizer" kit allows you to create any "synthetic" color you want except black, which is technically the absence of color. By using transistors for linear current control (instead of the typical PWM methods which causes a strobing effect) a Red-Green-Blue LED can display the full pallet of visible colors. These are actually "artificial" colors -- if they were sent through a prism it would separate them out into only red, green, and blue. How the brain is "tricked" into perceiving the full spectrum is explained as the last part of the in structions.
Tools Required and not included: Safety glasses, Soldering Iron with Cage-Type Soldering Iron Stand, Solder wire (Preferably Tin/Lead alloy 73/37 with a rosin core flux) Long or Needle Nose Pliers, Fine Wire Cutters, a basic Digital Multimeter (DMM), batteries.
Parts Included: Printed Circuit Board, Resistors, Color LEDs, Battery Box w/Switch (Batteries are not included), Transistors, Potentiometers, detailed assembly diagram and schematic and complete assembly inst ructions.
This kit requires soldering skills. Recommended ages: 8 and up with instructor, 10 and up independently.
If you need tools, you may want to consider the Quality Tool Set (available for purchase separately).
