It's not extensive but a good overview for the money.

This book is very informative and straight to the point. It is an excellent starting point for studying famous and influential artist.

The information appears to be great for a starter book in art history, however I'm not sure why more (if not all) of the pictures were not in color. It really takes away from the great works of art. There is a tiny section with glossy pages with color photos that look fantastic. I don't need glossy pages, but in order to see even some of the detail I now have to go online to see what each particular work of art should look like. Pretty disappointing, especially for the price. It's not exactly cheap.

I love art, and I think it is fun and exciting! Unfortunately, this book is very dry (i.e. not exciting)! The artwork is in black and white, which is so disappointing. Instead, I would recommend History of Art by Ned Bustard.
