ShillerMath is a Montessori-based math program that covers PreK-Pre-Algebra concepts through three kits (all sold-separately): Kit I (PreK-Grade 3), Fractions (most ages), and Kit II (4th Grade-Pre Algebra). Each math concept is covered through bite-sized lessons that cover the four learning styles (visual, tactile, auditory, kinesthetic), giving students a deeper understanding of the material. No Montessori or math knowledge is required-nor any lesson preparation! Teachers simply read what's in quotes.
Time spend on the program will vary by age, from 15 minutes per day for 4 year olds to 30-45 minutes per day for students ages 9 & up. Instead of marching from lesson to lesson, teachers observe whether students understand and are ready to move on to the next lesson, understand but want to do more problems on it, or don't understand and the lesson needs to be revisited at a later date. Each lesson in the book is clearly laid out with the lesson objective, list of manipulatives needed, learning styles used, and any consumables required, followed by the scripted lesson. The Answer keys feature the student workbook pages with the correct answers overlaid in red ink.

Seri5 Stars Out Of 5A great bridge between public school and home-schooling using the Montessori methodApril 2, 2016SeriQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5After one year in kindergarten in a public school, my child refused to go back. I spent the entire summer researching pedagogical approaches and found Dr. Maria Montessori's approach to be inspiring. I spent a lot of time reading about how to apply it, and a lot of my modest income acquiring manipulatives. However, I felt that the shopping list was endless and there was always something else needed. When the school year started, it was really hard to apply the information from the (expensive) Montessori albums. I felt that because my child had had some introduction to math and literature concepts, I had no idea how to bridge where they came from and where I wanted us to go. So basically, we flailed at math and reading for the first fall semester. Around the New Year, I spent a lot of time thinking about my approach and decided I needed more help.
I had come across ShillerMath previously in my research, and went back to their website. I had other questions, and when I called, Antoinette helped me and was really friendly and professional. I ended up ordering Kit 1, and it showed up quickly. My child was curious and enjoyed unpacking the box, laying out all the manipulatives and books. I printed out the diagnostic tests, and upon inputting their answers into the website, had a customized list of what lessons we should approach first. This is an extremely helpful feature and helped me greatly overcome my inertia to math studies at home. We enjoy implementing this program and often spend more then the recommended 30 minutes a day suggested for 1st graders exploring math concepts. It also put a stop to my endless quest for all the 'right' math manipulatives. This is an 'open and go' kit, so we have everything we need at hand, there is even a pencil and three ring binder!
ShelleyVirginiaAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5We love ShillerMath!!January 2, 2016ShelleyVirginiaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I started using ShillerMath with my 9 year old son over 2 years ago. He has some special needs and really struggles in math. We were both really frustrated. The Montessori approach was just what he needed. The hands-on, multi-sensorial approach really works with his learning style. The lessons are scripted and all planned out, it really is an open and go program. The manipulatives really help with difficult concepts and it is not worksheet based. There is a good variety in the lessons. I have moved all of my children to ShillerMath and it has made them all love math!
