Words of comfort and inspiration from Psalm 23 provide readers with hope to persevere through lifes daily challenges.
In today's world it can be difficult to feel safe and secure. That's why in this revised and updated Safe in the Shepard's Arms, which has sold more than 475,000 units, Max Lucado offers a 30-day devotional as a reliable source of safety and security from the 23rd Psalm. He describes this psalm as "written by a shepherd who became a king--because He wanted us to know about a King who became a shepherd." With Psalm 23 as our guide, we can release our burdens, throw off our fears, and rest safely in the Shepherd's arms.
More than 120 million readers have found inspiration and encouragement in the writings of Max Lucado. He lives with his wife, Denalyn, and their mischievous mutt, Andy, in San Antonio, Texas, where he serves the people of Oak Hills Church.
Chuck Singleton5 Stars Out Of 5Safe in the Shepard's ArmsOctober 6, 2016Chuck SingletonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have read virtually all of Max Lucado's books. I never tire of reading his works. Safe in the Shepard's Arms is excellent considering that my wife and I go through the entire Bible each year (since 2007). This includes a com-
plete walk through Psalms TWICE! We also read Proverbs 12 times each year. Much of Max's references include passages from Old and New Testaments which we recall from past readings.

I always added the little "ty" baby sheep named "Fleece". Oh how they all loved it! I still have at least five more to share but cannot find any more. So sad! So beautiful! Bring it back, Max.
Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Made up of excerpts, but nice selectionOctober 22, 2012Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4"Safe in the Shepherd's Arms" is an encouragement book built around Psalm 23. It's made up solely of excerpts from some of Max Lucado's other books, but the focus was on what we learn about God from Psalm 23. The version of the book that I have (the 2002 version) took each verse (overlaying a picture of sheep) and then had two to six pages with larger-type, widely spaced text relating to that verse. There were 16 sections plus an introduction and closing thoughts.
There were some nice insights (usually related to shepherding), but probably this book would feel repetitive to someone who has already read the books that the excerpts came from: "Traveling Light," "He Still Moves Stones," "The Applause of Heaven," "In the Eye of the Storm," "When God Whispers Your Name," "A Gentle Thunder," "In the Grip of Grace," "In the House of God," and "He Chose the Nails."
