The Parables of Jesus: A Guide to Understanding and Applying the Stories Jesus TaughtR.T. KendallChosen Books / 2008 / Trade Paperback$24.00
This omnibus edition brings together Phillip Kellers three devotional classics, A Shepherd Looks and the 23rd Psalm, A Shepherd Looks at the Good Shepherd, and A Shepherd Looks at the Lamb of God. As a shepherd, Phillip Keller knew what it was to protect a vulnerable flock on a daily basis. The special skills of a shepherd demanded compassion, care, and guidance. His practical experience provides a wellspring of profound spiritual insight, reflected in these timeless meditations on the most famous psalm of all, on the relationship between the Good Shepherd and his sheep, and on the sacrificial role of Christ the Lamb of God.

I bought one for myself and one for a friend in TX. While I did not enjoy the other two books as much as I did the first one, I DID like them. There were tings I learned from them I had not realized before, but not as much as from the first book. I think this was because it was a direct look at the scripture itself. However, I would still recommend this book because it IS a good value and DOES provide insights FROM a shepherd OF a shepherd - OUR shepherd and His word. You cannot find that anywhere else that I know, and I appreciated the things I learned. It gave me a deeper appreciation of God's word and my Lord.

Not long after, my mother brought up the relationship between a shepherd and his sheep. So I had to buy the books. I bought three, one for my mom and two for my sisters. I am still going to purchase one for myself.
coloradofalls5 Stars Out Of 5Definitely Recommend!October 28, 2011coloradofallsQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I'm on the third book in the trilogy and have found the unique insights and perspectives offered by Phillip Keller eye opening. I'm using it as a daily devotional and find myself being refreshed and even calmed during some very troubling things going on. Especially in the first book you will find some convicting comparisons about how we really do act like sheep! Overall, the key of the book is that it is always pointing you to the true Shepherd.
