Publisher's Description

She wants faith, hope, and love.
She wants help and healing.
She wants to hear and be heard, to see and be seen.
She wants things set right.

She wants to know what is true—not partly true, or sometimes true, or almost true. She wants to see Truth itself, face-to-face. But here, now, these things are all cloudy. Hope is tinged with hurt. Faith is shaded by doubt. Lesser, broken things masquerade as love.

How does she find something permanent when the world around her is always changing, when not even she can stay the same? And if she finds it, how does she hold on?

She Reads Truth tells the stories of two women who discovered, through very different lives and circumstances, that only God and His Word remain unchanged as the world around them shifted and slipped away. Infused with biblical application and Scripture, this book is not just about two characters in two stories, but about one Hero and one Story. Every image points to the bigger picture—that God and His Word are true. Not because of anything we do, but because of who He is. Not once, not occasionally, but right now and all the time.

Sometimes it takes everything moving to notice the thing that doesn’t move. Sometimes it takes telling two very different stories to notice how the Truth was exactly the same in both of them.

For anyone searching for a solid foundation to cling to, She Reads Truth is a rich and honest Bible-filled journey to finally find permanent in a world that’s passing away.

Author Bio

Raechel Myers is always on the lookout for beauty, goodness, and truth in everyday life. Co-founder and CEO of She Reads Truth, Raechel has a bachelor’s degree in housing and environmental design, and is not afraid to paint a whole house over a long weekend. Amanda Bible Williams likes words and books more than just about anything. She holds bachelor’s degrees in English and psychology, nearly a master’s in religion, and a deep love for a farmhouse east of Nashville, Tennessee, where she lives with her husband and their three children. Chief Content Officer of She Reads Truth, Amanda spends her days happily rearranging sentences and explaining that her maiden name really is Bible.

Wow. That's what I said as I closed She Reads Truth by Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams, and ponder. Yep. There was so much strength and faith in what is basically the memoir of the two authors. To write about your own story, the good and the bad already takes courage, but to lay it out there about your faith - what went wrong and how it went right, well, that takes a certain resilience. Beautifully written, poetic even, She Reads Truth, no matter which story you're reading, the words and its meaning seems to jump out of the pages, straight into your mind, as it travel down to your heart.

Honest and compelling, She Reads Truth isn't just about two women's journey, but it points to the Word, the Truth, and the Light in Jesus Christ. And that, my friends is what makes this book so intense and strong. It's soul-searching. As life is good, seek Him first. When grief overtakes you, seek Him and let His light and faith shine through. Finding the conviction to find HIM first, (that's amazing) and you will find the permanence of Him and in Him.

NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, B&H Publishing Group. I was not required to give a positive review or compensated at all. All opinions expressed are my own.

I received this book from B&H Publishing in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are completely my own.

This book is a double memoir of two amazing young women. I liked the beginning of the book and found my favorite parts in the first chapters. The authors show how the solid truth of God's word is steady and unchanging through the ups and downs of life. Their experiences are shared to testify that Jesus has been there for each of them time and time again.

Before the halfway point, I became a little disappointed in the book. It is almost entirely a recounting of the author's personal life stories. I was looking for more information about the creation and growth of the online community She Reads Truth. Learning more about the birth and development of the community and Bible studies would be very interesting to me.

In conclusion, the book has one great focus and that is to lead readers of She Reads Truth to the Bible. If you want to read the biographical accounts of these two women and experience the encouragement to join them in reading the truth found in God's word then you might like to get the book. However, if you are expecting chapters on the background of She Reads Truth community and Bible studies, you might want to pass on this one.

She Reads Truth promises to be a memoir of two different women who lives have intersected and the current result is the She Reads Truth community, bible studies, and their book.

It is one told from differing perspectives (made clear by name who the speaker is in each chapter).

It starts with Amanda retelling the period of her life when her father was dying. It is an introduction of sorts into the book and why she read truth.

I'll be totally honest. I am not a fan of the book. I can appreciate the stories they tell. But overall I could have done without reading the book at all.

The two perspective format of storytelling (in my opinion) only works when they are telling two different perspectives of the same story. Not jumping between two stories, two lives.

Nothing grabs me by the collar and pulls me in deeper. It's like telling a story but without a climax. Where's the climax? Where's the aha? Where's the wow? And that is what I was hoping to find, to no avail.

Maybe this book will work for someone else. Maybe it won't be so back and forth and trying to piece together like a patch quilt. Maybe it will all make sense for the next gal.

But for me it didn't do it. I'd give it 2 stars out of 5.

    {FYI: I received this book from the publisher (B&H) in exchange for my honest opinion.}

All I can say is that all I want to read is the truth. This book shows you how even in the darkest of time you can find the truth behind the story. Love the open and honest stories that are shared. Check out this book for the truth that will get you out of any situation.

I've never written a book but I can imagine that it takes a great deal of courage to put your thoughts on paper and then send it out to the masses where it will be judged. That's probably incredibly hard when you are doing a work of fiction but to write something very personal where you stand virtually naked before the world must take not only courage but conviction.

Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams have both in abundance. She Reads Truth is open and honest while at the same time compelling and convicting. Both women take us through some very tough and defining times in their lives where loss seems to be at the center of the story. And maybe for a lot of people loss would be the center. But in their stories the consistent and permanent part of the unfolding drama is Jesus. Neither one of them were spared deep soul shattering grief but in every single scenario Jesus held them and allowed them to continue on.

The hashtags for this book and movement are #SheReadsTruth and #SheIsMe. After reading the book I am even more convinced that it is appropriate. While the stories contained in the book belong to Raechel and Amanda they also have pieces of my story and probably yours too. And just as Jesus was at the center of their redemption stories He's at the center of mine and can be the center of yours too.

If everything is falling apart around you or if everything is going along fine this book is for you! Through their circumstances you will begin to recognize just how central Jesus is to each of our stories. He hears, He sees, and He loves you. There is not a moment that you are out of His reach. I'm so grateful that Raechel and Amanda were willing to heed the call of the Lord to write these words because they were a wonderful reminder that all of this, the good, the bad, and the ugly, are just passing away. But there is One that is permanent that is worthy of everything.

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
