Product Description

Does "race" really matter? Seeking to establish that human beings are overwhelmingly similar when it comes to genetic makeup, Unander, an honored geneticist, argues that the term "race" implies greater differences among groups of human beings than is supposed by the genetic evidence. By debunking the premise of The Bell Curve and exploring the history of how science has been abused to justify racism, this astonishing new book weaves together science and history to offer foundations for biblical and thological perspectives on questions of "race."

I think this book is one of the best I've ever read on the social issue of racism. Unander used a scientific approach as well as soul searching to formulate this work. His deductive reasoning blows away previously unchallenged preconceptions of race. I also should note that as a non-minority American, Unander chose to share a burden that is all too often upon the shoulders of minorities alone. As a believer in The Lord, he is reaching towards the discriminated for reconciliation. It's a great book; I would highly recommend it to anyone. My only quibble is that some of his scientific language is a little above layman's vernacular.
