I am assuming this is the last story, even though there is one more daughter. However, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and i liked how the other triologies were all brought together to conclude this story line. Mary did a great job tying everything together.
All I can say is Mary Connealy gets better with every book! SHARPSHOOTER IN PETTICOATS brings a nine-book saga to a close. We first met Sophie and her daughters in the Lassoed in Texas series, then got to know some new characters in the Montana Marriages stories, and finally saw the McClellen girls all grown up and forging their own paths in the Sophie's Daughters series. Ms. Connealy does a superb job of dovetailing all these characters' stories into a riveting and very satisfying conclusion in this book. The story centers on sharpshooting widow Mandy McClellen Gray, who fears she'll only bring death to anyone who comes near, and Tom Linscott, the rancher who can't live without her. Readers who love Mary's books for their charming blend of humor, history, and hair-raising gunfights--plus a whole lot of romance--won't be disappointed!
This is the third book in the series Sophie's Daughters and just as good as the previous books. Right from the first page there is drama and it just keeps coming. I can's say I was upset to see Mandy's husband had died has he was worthless as a husband and caused nothing but grief. I really like Tom he seems just right for Mandy. What I also love is we catch up with what has happened with Mandy's family and also get to see some of the characters from the Montana Marriages series also. I love the tension in this book and the conversations between Mandy and Tom are quite interesting. We also have the bad guys intent on killing Mandy and anyone she's associated with. This book has all the hallmarks of Mary's past books with the humor, drama and the bad guys everything a historical western should have. I would love to see these books made into a series or movies as they would be well worth watching. It is also good to see women portrayed as strong which is what women in the west needed to be to survive. A great read and I am sad to see the series end.
I have so enjoyed this author's books. She is in a class with Jannette Oake and Lori Wick. Her characters are so realistic and sometimes so "human". And as with her other books the Lord is always present. Good job and I look forward to many more books to read.
Mary Connealy writes such adventurous and fun stories that suck me in from the get-go. She is so good at starting off her books with action that hooks me fast and keeps me turning the page throughout the book.
There are many characters from her previous books in Sharpshooter, which I enjoyed seeing again, and Mary's ability to weave these characters in while staying focused on the main plot is truly amazing.
Both Mandy and Tom are stubborn people who butt heads from the very beginning of the story, but their chemistry together is sizzling and makes for some great scenes! Sigh...I love a strong hero who can be gentle in his dealings with the woman he loves.
This is another great book from Mary Connealy and you won't be disappointed! Well, maybe disappointed in that it is the last in this series, but I'm sure she has upcoming books that will knock our boots off!
