Taylor Martian is a criminal profiler who has a problem, someone is stalking her and she believes she knows who it is, but finding him proves to be quite a problem.
Since the death of his wife, Nick Sinclair has only two things on his mind, writing his next novel and finding his estranged brother. Finding love again was never part of the plan.
This was a new author for me and I enjoyed this book top to bottom. It was well thought out and executed. The characters were decently written, although I would have liked to see more depth in Nick's character. It took me a while to really enjoy Taylor and Nick as a couple, separately they were great characters, but it seemed to me that it took awhile for them to gel as a couple.
Nick's brother Scott was a magnificent character. When we are first introduced to him, he is presented as a "bad boy" type, but I absolutely adored the way his story unfolded and the way that his character grew throughout the entire book.
The story was amazing, it was well written and kept the reader wanting to know what was on the next page. I had a pretty hard time putting it down sometimes.
This was a new author for me and I am glad that I took the chance, I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I would definitely recommend this book.
Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Developed, nice characters and lots of dangerAugust 8, 2016Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4"Shadows of the Past" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. The suspense came from physical danger to various characters and the shaky nature of the romance. Taylor feels like men will always reject her because she doesn't quite measure up somehow. Nick is afraid of loving again after losing the love of his life to a tragic murder. Add to this that Nick is hiding information to protect his brother (the main suspect). So the romance is shaky even if they are attracted.
The suspense was pretty high at the start and the end, but there's a lull in the middle. A number of people end up dead. However, I was confused by several people demanding that Taylor stop profiling active cases because it's too dangerous. Yet the main suspect found Taylor through her teaching job (which they deem safe).
Also, Taylor feels like God won't answer her prayers but thinks about reconnecting with God based on the peace Nick has from "giving God control over his life, trusting him no matter what." This is fine except it came right after Nick basically stated that he didn't trust God in the matter of her safety. So, odd timing on that.
There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this interesting suspense novel.

It kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. The heroine and hero had both had more than their share of extremely difficult circumstances with which to deal. Their experiences from the past were enough to scar a person for life but stuff just kept happening. I started wondering if there would ever be an end in sight to the tragedies or answers to all their questions. Just when you thought they were catching a break, something else would occur. About two-thirds of the way through, I started getting a little suspicious about one of the characters but things really didn't shake out until right at the end of the book. Most of the ending took me by surprise. The romance was there but it was not the overriding story line for me. I was caught up in the suspense. If you like a lot of suspense, a bit of romance, and a touch of faith all put together into a great story, I recommend this book to you.

The characters of this book - all of them, not just the main ones - are well developed. I feel like I know them. I thought I had the "who done it" all figured out by page 116, but boy was I wrong! There were constantly things that made me rethink who I thought it was, but I stuck to my guns, and I got it wrong! This is well written and suspenseful. I'm starting the next book in the Logan Point series today, and I look forward to seeing what she has in store!
