Tell us a little about yourself. I have spent more than 20 years preaching and teaching God's Word. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, I entered into public ministry and have served in four churches. I currently resides in Washington State with my wife and three children and serve as pastor.
When I'm not preaching or teaching God's word, I spend a good part of my time writing. My first novel, "Shadows," released October 1st, 2011. I am an apprentice-level alumnus of the Christian Writer's Guild. I am also a member of the Northwest Christian Writers Association and serve as a board member and a critique group facilitator.
Given the opportunity, I also enjoy time on the golf course.
What was your motivation behind this project? I love fiction - especially allegorical adventures in fantastic settings. I see the power of a good story to convey truth. As I look around the world, and our nation, I see that truth has become lost in the shuffle of information.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I wanted to inspire people to seek the truth. Truth cannot be destroyed, but it can be hidden and it can be forgotten. People must be willing to seek the truth no matter how much the world stands against them.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As I worked on this project, I grew in my own love for and need for the truth of God's word. No one is saved by a lie - it requires truth to be known. God is the God of all truth. In the world, the church is the pillar and foundation of the truth. Without the truth, hope is lost.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My major influence has been, and still is, my first pastor, Dr. Gary Martin. He taught me to love the word of God. Fantasy writer's, the likes of Tolkien, Eddings, Donaldson, and Brooks all had influence on my style and desire to write.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Inside the stories that we all read there are golden nuggets of truth. As you read "Shadows" I encourage you to realize that God's word is the book that must not be lost. Every utterance of God is true and it is worth seeking and knowing with all your heart.
