I had to pick a book for a project in school and this book was one of my choices. This book was not even my first choice actually, but I am very happy with the book that I got. If you are a person that likes a Religious, sad, tragedy book this a great book for you even though the words that i used to describe the book are kind of dark it is still a great book to read. This book follows the story of a Man named Mack. Mack is a middle aged man who has a rough past. To start, Mack was abused by his alcoholic father as a kid. At the age of thirteen Mack decided to run away from home to get money and to become more stronger so he can protect his mother, but before leaving his home he put rat poisonings in all of the alcohol that his father owns. After leaving his home he became a great person. As he got married to a woman named Nan and those two together had five kids. Years after giving birth to his first he took his three youngest on a vacation. At first the vacation is a great trip and everything seems fine until the last day on this last day. Jack and Kate ask to go canoeing on the lake where they are staying everything starts off ok until they each start drowning. Mack had a job as a lifeguard before so he hoped back into the after to save his two droning kids, but when he gets back to shore he notices that Missy, his youngest, is missing. They all start to look for her and the police are called. When the police get there they question Mack and they notice a small detail such a pin that leads to the discovery that Missy was kidnapped by a cereal killer called the ladybug killer. They have never found the body of one of his victims before. They continue to look for her to the point where they locate a shack in a location where he would be hiding. Unfortunately they were too late. Then it cuts back to the present where Mack mysteriously got a note telling him to go back to the Shack. It was signed by Papa which is what his family calls God. Mack was really torn on whether he wanted to go or not, but overall he chose to go. At this shack at first nothing happened , but when he tried to leave the whole place changed and there he was outside the Shack standing in awe thinking if this is real or not. After a few minutes an African American woman comes out and introduces herself as God. If you want to find out what happens next I would recommend that you go out and by this book so you for yourself can read about the story of Mack and what his time with God was like

Might just be that The Shack was so new and controversial but it just wasn't as exciting though still good reading.

I enjoyed reading the book, especially after reading The Shack and seeing the movie. However, the quality of the book was very poor. I had 32 blank pages through the first half of the book. It made it very difficult to read and get the full meaning that was written.
