Product Description

"Mack" Philips took his three children on a family camping trip while his wife visited her sister. Just as they were about to leave the campsite, the two older kids decided to take a last canoe ride before heading home. As their canoe overturned, and Mack went to help them, his back was turned and the unspeakable happened. Mack's youngest daughter,Missy, was abducted by a known child predator. After a massive search, evidence of Missy showed up at an abandoned cabin. Although they never found her body, everyone knew the worst had happened. For the next four years "a great sadness" fell over Mack and his family, until a note from God showed up in his mailbox. What happens next will move you to a greater understanding of God's unfailing love for us all.

Publisher's Description

Mackenzie Allen Phillips's youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.

Author Bio

Wm. Paul Young was born a Canadian and raised among a Stone Age tribe by his missionary parents in the highlands of former New Guinea. He suffered great loss as a child and young adult and now enjoys the "wastefulness of grace" with his family in the Pacific Northwest.

I had heard about this book shortly after it came out in bookstores, but I never bought it until recently. What an amazing and unique perspective of Faith in God, learning to forgive, and opening your mind to a different perspective of what God may look like. I highly recommend this book for anyone who may be dealing with a difficult situation of trying to forgive. I will be keeping this on my reading list for years to come.

Read this book, saw the movie, now I'm reading the book again. Paul Young is an excellent author but this story has taken on a life of it's own. The story allows us to visit with the Trinity in a way never before told. It allows us to see that God is moved by our infirmities and loves us beyond compare. He is not sitting on His throne waiting for us to make a mistake, but is waiting on us to call upon Him in time of need. Mr. Young lets us see a loving Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Purchase the book and keep it on your shelf to read again and again!

Absolutely spell binding, and makes you know where you want your faith to be! Even when things go wrong as they do, you can rest knowing God can make your sorrow into something bigger than you can dream.

This book really made me think about the bible and my faith in a different way. Even if it is a work of fiction and doesn't portray things exactly like the bible it is a great story with a great message. It took me several tries to really get into the book but was able to once I used the audio version. Would love to experience this deep of an immersion to fully deal with the struggles we face. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for something different with a deep desire to dive deeper into faith.
