Finally a resource for junior high youth to deal with sexual pressure. Mary Ronan talks directly and clearly. Kids love her, listen to her and respond. Mary is a registered nurse with a specialty in reproductive health and has worked with teens for over 15 years. Especially for 14 and 15 year olds, these programs help them think through in advance decisions related to sex. This series challenges young people to understand sex as a valuable gift.
Special emphasis is given to avoidance of sexual activity before marriage. Mary presents the facts in a straight, honest way that teens relate to and respect. She helps them think through the consequences of premarital sex. She shows why it is important to have firm convictions ahead of time to avoid being caught up in emotional circumstances.
The complete curriculum kit includes six 25-minute programs with leader's guide, reproducible student worksheets and a special bonus DVD and book presentation for parents: Raising Your Children in an Ungodly World.

Eunissa Yancy5 Stars Out Of 5I Learned A LotJune 17, 2015Eunissa YancyQuality: 3Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Although this video was published back in 2001, I still learned a lot! Mary Rownan is a nurse and gives information from a biological as well as Christian perspective. I just sat through a public school "lesson" about STD's, after listening to Mary's lecture, I realized that these children were misinformed because of "omission" of information. Mary explained the biological effects of sex, pregnancy, and STDs, much better than what I heard in this public school. After watching this video, I plan to ask my doctor some questions and do some book research to verify the information. My favorite segment was the first segment about making a good decision. This segment was good for basic life living apart from the topic of sex. I also noticed that there seems to be a promotion of the idea of chastity verses abstinence. I was taught abstinence (as a teen in the mid-80's), but in this video Mary emphasizes chastity. I prefer the chastity perspective of learning to be patient in order to open God's perfect gift at the proper time as opposed to the "forbidden fruit" perspective of abstinence. The question and answer segment was good too ... children are still asking these same questions, but now they have the Internet and YouTube as resources for answers! I am the mother 4 children and I have been married for over 20 years. I do not want to be naive about what my children are "perceiving" from TV, movies, and other educators. I am not a parent that was sheltered from this topic of sex, but I have to admit, that I learned most of what I know now after being married. I hope to be able to have open conversations but from a Christian perspective that is both informative, biologically, as well as honoring to God.
