Ha ~ I was so excited when this book arrived in the mail. I could not wait to read it~ after all I am real sure at my age I have figured out just what issues I carry in my pocketbook. My son looks at the book on the counter and says, "Mom~ why do you have this book?"
Now if you get my point~ I took it as a great compliment but as we all know ~ we all have issues.
Sometimes we have trouble forgiving. At times we may feel like God gave us a raw deal when our dreams fall apart. Once in a while our tempers get the best of us and ugly spews out of our mouth before we can say "Damage." Sometimes we have trouble dealing with past hurts and difficult people. Sometimes we are the difficult people.
When we fail to see and address our issues they just become who we are~ feeling comfortable like an old pair of shoes.
When all else fails~ we try to "fix" the broken parts of us in our strength~ until the next time our issue bubbles up once again.
Are you ready to address your issues? I dare you to read the book.
We in reality have the power of Christ that can transform our weakness into strength.
This is a great book and I highly recommend it! The book includes quizzes and personal assessment tools.
So often, the real everyday issues that women face often take a backseat to the bigger issues and complexities of life. This book helps bring a fresh perspective to the challenges that many women face on a daily basis. Nicole Unice brings to the light issues that many women are reluctant to talk about because it might put a crack in the perfect armor that we try to wear. Drawing on a number of Scripture passages, she really helps draw the reader back to a biblical understanding of topics such as control, anxiety, fear, anger, and unforgiveness. It's a great book to go through slowly on your own, but would be even better to go slowly through it with a small group to really digest the book and find accountability as you begin to deal with your own issues. What a treat to read this book!
Every woman has issues, yet most of us have difficulty admitting it. Maybe we aren't aware of our issues; maybe we're ashamed of them; maybe we don't think they could ever go away.
In She's Got Issues, Nicole Unice lays bare the five and a half issues faced by most women (Control, Insecurity, Comparison, Fear, Anger and its cousin Unforgiveness) and challenges us to get real about our problems. I didn't expect to relate so much to this book, but I found myself being challenged chapter after chapter.
Issues that I had accepted as normal or that I was afraid to uncover, such as Comparison and Insecurity, were faced head-on. Reading Nicole's writing was like having a heart-to-heart with an understanding but honest friend. She encouraged me but also dared me to rise above my issues.
Until reading this book, I didn't think my issues had any major effects. I didn't think I could truly change them, so I figured I needed to learn to cope instead. Nicole shows how our issues hold us back from living and loving the way God intended.
Each chapter is filled with humor, insight, practicality, and applicable Scriptures. Nicole's writing style makes the book appealing to women of all ages. A "Space Bar," with journal space and questions, sparks deeper thought and concludes each chapter.
Although I disagreed with the author on some things, I still give She's Got Issues 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to any woman ready to tackle her own issues.
I received this book from the publisher for free in exchange for my review.
I had never heard of Nicole Unice before but something about the introduction and summary of this book made me want to read it. I am so glad that I did! This book is about how many of us try to live a good Christian life but the same issues, that have tormented us for years, try to keep us from living life to the fullest. These issues include insecurity, fear, comparison, anger and control. Nicole explains these issues in a very relatable way. She also includes quizzes, prayers and other self-assessment tools such as journaling exercises and group discussion questions. I found these tools to be helpful and think that this book would make an excellent small group study or a study to do on your own. Nicole will be releasing a DVD curriculum in September 2012 that would be perfect for small groups.
I am so glad that I choose to review this book as it really spoke to me. I enjoyed Nicole's style of writing as I felt like I was sitting with a friend who really knew me and what I was going through. Many times I found myself re-reading a sentence because it was like a light bulb went off when I read it. This book also served as a gentle reminder of things that I know but so often overlook. I definitely recommend this book.

Nicole has done an amazing job in writing this book. We all have issues and I am learning to "own my issues". The more control I relinquish to God the more prosperous my life is becoming!!! I have learned I cannot control life or life's circumstances. I release it all to Christ and am learning what it feels like to walk by faith! I highly recommend this book to all women get on board and Own Your Issues!!!
