When Benny Erb is found lying dead on the floor of his general store, it is presumed that he had accidently fallen off a ladder, but his brother Enos knows that this is not possible so he turns to Professor Michael Branden at the local university for help, but the professor is involved in a tragedy of his own. One of his top students has fallen from the Universitys bell tower while her boyfriend watches. As the professor and his long-time friends Pastor Caleb Troyer and Sheriff Bruce Robertson work to solve the young womans death, they begin to understand that Bennys death is tied to hers.

This is not your typical light hearted Amish book. The author works both the Amish and the English into a truly compelling but not overly complicated story, one that the author dives into the darker side on humanity and the Amish world. Its not a very long book, only 224 pages, but those pages are definitely worth reading.

If you are looking for something different, this might be it.

It was just okay but really not about the Amish.

I could tell it was a man writting this and I now realize that makes a difference to me. Amish setting but not entirely about them which was disappointing.
