KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Love this K-9 series!August 14, 2019KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Arrrooooo! I might just have a super crush on Frosty, K-9 extraordinaire. And what a perfect name for a white German Shepherd! This guy is a multi-talented super star on the job and caring canine babysitter in his spare time. :-) That's my kind of hero!
Of course, his two-legged partner is pretty fine too. Carter's a dedicated single dad in police family royalty. I get a bit of a Bluebloods vibe from this series with the Jameson's being a multi-generational policing family. Love the way the brothers pull together and support each other -- especially the way they've helped Carter raise his motherless daughter. Young Ellie is a charmer and she has her daddy and her uncles wrapped around her little finger. There's something sooooo heartstopping about a tough protector type sitting down to a tea party, don't you think? Blissful sigh.
You'll have to forgive Carter for being a bit grouchy -- he isn't fond of reporters. Not after the sideshow they've made of his family after his brother's murder. But Rachelle is supposed to be reporting on the police-field-dog trials (which Officer Frosty excels at, of course!) only she's also been doing her own investigation into the chief's murder which infuriates Carter...and also an unknown criminal who seems to want her dead. And that's this dynamic policing duo's cue to stick close and protect.
This is the stuff page-turning dreams are made of! A real edge-of-your-seater suspense. Tons of gasp-out-loud moments as the danger escalates. And trying to figure out the whys and where-fors of the crimes and whether they are closing in on a ruthless killer...phew...the springs in my armchair sleuth's cushions got a real workout! And then there's the tentative romance that is wrong for so many reasons but also incredibly right for so many more. If only Carter and Rachelle can figure that out in time.
A breath-snatching romantic suspense fueled by action and angst. This sixth True Blue K-9 Unit novel can be enjoyed as a standalone, but readers familiar with the series will appreciate an added depth to the characters and the New York City setting. Not to mention the intricacies of K-9 policing!
proudmom5085 Stars Out Of 5Descriptive characters - lots of action! Must read!August 6, 2019proudmom508Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is book 6 in the True Blue K-9 Unit series. I read this out of order after finishing just the first 3 beforehand. This book was given to me by the author but the review was not required. The opinions are my own.
This book was great. I was glad to have read at least the first book of the series beforehand so I understood the overall mysteries about Jordan and Snapper. However, the book is so well written that I think I would have enjoyed it just as much if I hadn't. There is one point where what happens in an earlier book is mentioned. Although I basically now know some things about that book, I still want to read the entire series at some point.
I enjoyed how Terri Reed developed the characters and their backstories. I wish I knew more about Rachelle's family but it was because I truly liked the characters not because I needed more background. Terri Reed's writing is so descriptive that I can imagine what the characters, events, and settings looked like. Carter's daughter Ellie was a delight. Frosty was a very brave K-9. I think this is my favorite book of the series so far.
Phyllis W5 Stars Out Of 5SuspensefulAugust 6, 2019Phyllis WQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This story features a reporter, Rachelle, that is tired of writing fluff pieces for her newspaper. She starts to investigate the murder of Captain Jameson secretly. However, she gets caught up, and becomes a target of some very bad people. Carter Jameson, and his K9 partner, Frost, are assigned to protect her. The story takes some twists and turns, lots of suspense, and some love thrown into the mix. Great story, highly recommend.
ValriVernonia, ORAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The Reporter and the K-9 OfficerAugust 1, 2019ValriVernonia, ORAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I really enjoy stories about law enforcement families and the Jameson family has had a lot of trials. However, they are resiliant and continue to protect the people of NYC. I particularly like stories about K-9 officers and that's what Carter Jameson is. The family is leery of reporters and with good reason. Carter's brother was murdered recently and reporters hounded the family, saying it was a suicide until other facts came out, confirming it was a murder. So, when Carter meets Rachelle Clark, who is a reporter, he doesn't really like her. But, because she is secretly investigating his brother's murde, she has a target on her back and soon, Carter sees that he has to protect her. I liked Carter's multi-generational law enforcement family, including his cute daughter! I also like Rachelle's character because she wasn't close to her family and really longed for a close family like Carter's. This was a very good story and a great part of this series.
