This book brings together some of the classic spiritual writings from the twentieth century's most inspirational authors. Arranged thematically, this collection is ideal for use in sermon preparation and as a spiritual primer for laity and clergy alike. The nearly twenty subject headings include such topics as "Alienation and Loneliness," "Holiness and Spirituality," "Justice and Kindness," "Purity of Heart," "Humility and Renunciation," "Spiritual Presence and Incarnation, " and "Worship, Gratitude, and Joy."

In addition to the thought-provoking tidbits are biblical entries that relate to the tidbits at the end of each chapter.
I originally thought the book would contain long excerpts from each leader and profile the religious leader, but I like the tidbit approach that focuses on themes. The tidbits whet my curiosity about some leaders that I intend to research.
I met Catherine de Hueck Doherty in Canada in the 1960s and spent time in Madonna House, was familiar with King's works, recognized some names, but was unfamiliar with most.
