Kav5 Stars Out Of 5Fantastic readAugust 6, 2016KavQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Double swoon!!! A Regency with Gothic tendencies and more than a dash of sinister. Be. Still. My. Heart. I couldn't put this book down. There's something so thrilling about that delectable combination. From elite drawing rooms to the grim underbelly of society's cast-offs -- I shivered with delight and despair. Madeline -- so wounded and brave and utterly confused. Devlin caught between two worlds as he struggles with his calling towards healing and his obligations as a duke. A romance between the two is impossible...unless they are both prepared to allow God to lead them out of the darkness. I'm all twitterpated over this first book in the Ravensmoore Chronicles.

alwaysreadingAge: 55-65Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Good Regency RomanceNovember 12, 2012alwaysreadingAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This was the first book I have read by this author and I found that I was very pleasantly surprised by both the writing style as well as the story line. The author writes on the subject of mental illness in England in the early 1800's and how is was perceived and treated during that time. I found that I was both disturbed and fascinated at the same time.
Madeline, our heroine, distrusts doctors due to personal tragedy. Struggling to recover from this, she begins to see her life in society shallow and unfulfilling, and looks for purpose in her life.
Devlin, Lord Ravenmoore, also finds himself uncomfortable in society and decides to pursue a career in medicine. This put him a a very unique position within two different worlds.
I found that I liked the chemistry between these two characters. It flowed naturally and was not forces. They stayed within the rules of the time, which made it realistic.
Over all it was a good book, and I will recommend it.
