Ken Davis tries to address some of the more common challenges of preparing and delivering a presentation in his book Secrets of Dynamic Communication. He keeps the book very focused and short, full of valuable information for the busy communicator. On top of providing some great information he includes a number of practical exercises that help the reader to practice the new material at the end of every chapter.
The book is easy to read and to follow. Davis outlines his points very clearly and brings them to life with many of his own experiences. In line with his goal to help others communicate, he sticks to his advice, keeping things simple and easy to follow.
The book Secrets of Dynamic Communication is a valuable tool for those who are just entering into the realm of public presentations as well as for those who have lots of experience. It covers the basics and helps to evaluate ones approach and, if necessary, to refine aspects of ones approach. The book is convincing and helpful because the author shares some of his own 30 years of experience and challenges as a public speaker. As a result, he has written a book that is engaging as it provides lots of helpful information.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is ever going to communicate publicly. The techniques described are kept general enough to apply to just about any area of communication, and yet improve ones attempts to deliver a focused message with clarity and conviction.
