"Secrets at Cedar Cabin" is a page turning, intriguing tale that had me doing nothing except reading it. It took very few pages to get captured within its tight grasp. This mesmerizing tale is a contemporary Christian mystery packed with action, adventure, and romance. It is 352 pages of emotions that jumped off of the page and right into me.

Author Coble has a smooth style of writing. It is obvious she is a seasoned professional. She is one of the best Christian mystery and romance authors I have found. Her prose weaves a tale that will have readers entertained, guessing, and on the edge of their chairs.

The characters are superb. They are well written, well described, and relatable. It is easy to imagine them in real life. Bailey could have been my buddy. I wanted to help her and many times found myself giving her advice. She was great.

The amount of details is enough to picture the scenarios but not too much to become bored. Dialog is plentiful and realistic. It doesn't sound stiff. The mention of God and faith is sprinkled throughout the novel. The romance is so good. It has a great love story.

This book is for mature readers because of its subject matter of human trafficking, kidnapping, abuse, murder, and death. It is certainly not a light piece of fluff. The author tackles real life, gritty issues that need to be addressed. After the story look for a note from the author, acknowledgments, eight discussion questions, author's biography, and advertisements. I love it when the author includes discussion questions.

I highly recommend this novel to mature readers. It would be a superb choice for a reading group. The author included discussion questions, don't forget. If you are a fan of contemporary, romantic mystery you won't want to miss this one. I rated it five out of five stars.

A copy was provided from the publisher but I was under no obligation to post a review. These are my own, honest words.

This is the third full length novel in The Lavender Tides series but reads well on its own. I enjoyed it. Coble has done a great job of combining mystery, romance, and suspense. And what could be better than the location, the north coast of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.

Readers of the series will be familiar with some of the major characters from previous Lavender Tides novels but the main character is a transplant from the Midwest. How Bailey ends up in the town is a bit convoluted, involving the murder of her mother and the bigamist she thought was her husband giving her the deed to a cabin in Washington. When there is an attempt on her life, she escapes to the only place she thinks might be safe. There is plenty of action in the novel as Coble peels away lies and deceit layer by layer. In the end, Bailey ending up in Lavender Tides does not seem as unreasonable as it did initially.

A major aspect of the novel is sex trafficking. That is hard to read about although Coble does well with it. Lance, the FBI agent looking into the trafficking, meets Bailey and after a rough start, romance blossoms. He has a personal interest in his investigation as his sister has been missing and is presumed to be held captive.

There is a good amount of suspense in the novel, especially near the end. The characters are crafted well. Bailey is a brave character and is at times more innovative than the FBI agents.

One area Coble does not deal with is the psychological issues women face after having been forced into sex trafficking. I wish she would have highlighted the work such women might have to go through to be emotionally and spiritually healthy again. She does include a serious warning to teens through the experience of a character tempted by a predator on social media.

I do wish Coble had added more description of the area with the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the north and the majestic Olympic Mountains to the south. But then I'm a Washingtonian who can see the location of the novel with just a short drive from my house.

I do recommend this novel to readers who enjoy a somewhat complicated plot with lies that are slowly revealed and including plenty of suspense. A good discussion guide is included.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

"Secrets at Cedar Cabin" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the third book in the series. While it can work as a stand-alone novel, the main characters from the previous books play a fairly large role in the current suspense story.

FBI agent Lance works to end human trafficking operations in his efforts to find his missing sister. Bailey's mother has been on the run Bailey's whole life, and now she's been murdered and Bailey shot at. The suspense came from the repeated attempts to kill or kidnap Bailey and the danger that Lance's sister was in as a high-class slave prostitute. The characters were engaging and acted realistically. I cared about what happened to them. Bailey struggled with trusting others because of all the lies that she's been told by the people she loved, but she's still very kind in how she interacts with others (especially elderly people).

The main characters prayed a couple "God, help me" type prayers. There were no sex scenes or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting novel.

I received an e-book review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

Colleen Coble wraps up her Lavender Tides series with Secrets of Cedar Cabin. Bailey Fleming is quietly working with an elderly patient at a nursing home in Rock Harbor, Michigan, when suddenly Kyle Bearcroft appears out of nowhere. Bailey had hoped to never lay eyes on this man, who had fraudulently married her, ever again!

Kyle has come to offer Bailey a deal. He will give her some property and $100,000 dollars is she will simply sign a nondisclosure agreement. After Bailey refuses the deal and hastily leaves the room, she receives some awful news from the local sheriff, Her mother has been found shot dead!

Bailey's mother has left Bailey a note telling her to run for her safety if anything out of the ordinary ever occurs. When Bailey secretly heads out across the country to find the property Kyle has left in her name, she finds herself in the small town of Lavender Tides, Washington. Little does Bailey know that in this very town her older sister and brother are living and they have been searching madly for her whereabouts!

This tale is full of secrets and suspense as this family's tale finally comes to a close. Hang on because this is a wild ride!

    Best of the series!

Best of the series! I was hooked from the moment I met Bailey and she ends up on the run. She has just found out her marriage was fake and then her mother is murdered. Bailey arrives in Lavender Tides where she hopes to be safe, but things are not as they seem. Someone is after Bailey, bodies are found, ties to a human trafficking ring are revealed, and she finds out that her mother has lied to her for years.

Through his current investigation of searching for his missing sister, FBI agent Lance meets Bailey. He realizes there might a tie in between what is happening to Bailey and his missing sister. The two spend a lot of time together over the course of the investigation and feelings begin to develop. There are so many secrets abounding, can these two piece all the pieces together and stop the evil that is happening before more girls get taken? Will Lance be able to protect Bailey?

There is plenty of action, suspense and romance that kept me engaged and turning pages quickly. I had to know who King was and if Lance would find his sister. I felt for Bailey, finding out that her whole life has been a lie. But she held on to her faith and treated others with genuine care even though her life was in danger. Her determination to press on was admirable.

While the main storyline is a unique to this book, there is a storyline that continues from the previous two books. There are little bits of recap inserted in this book that help you know what has previously happened but I would highly recommend reading the series in order to fully appreciate the character relationships. I fully enjoyed this book and did not want to put it down. Highly recommend! (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.)
