We humans are prone to failure. Were experts at muddying, mixing, and messing up our lives. Who among us hasnt looked up from the bottom of a pit and realized he dug it himself? Who hasnt fallen so far, messed up so badly that she thought there was no hope? And its at these low points that we crave reminders that theres hope for the broken.
No reminder is quite as poignant as a story of second chances. A story of grace in action. Who couldnt use more stories of grace like this?
Second Chances releases just in time for Easter promotions and is an ideal companion to GRACE: More Than We Deserve, Greater Than We Imagine. Filled with biblical, contemporary, and imaginative accounts of Gods grace in action pulled from Maxs previously published works, Second Chances includes tales of second chances for the rebellious, prideful, failure-prone, and more. From Peter to King David to a prodigal daughter, these stories will remind readers of the magnitude of the gospel of second chances.
More than 120 million readers have found inspiration and encouragement in the writings of Max Lucado. He lives with his wife, Denalyn, and their mischievous mutt, Andy, in San Antonio, Texas, where he serves the people of Oak Hills Church.

Who doesn't make mistakes? Who doesn't need the opportunity to receive a second chance once in awhile? Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone needs a second chance, and many of us would do almost anything to get that chance. Max reminds us, through this publication, that the God we love and serve is a God of second chances.
With the turn of every page, we are reminded of the endless love of God. We are reminded that His love is seen and felt powerfully every day within the blessings of His grace and mercy, both of which He chooses to extend to us freely, even though we are undeserving.
Max has divided this book into six sections: For the rebellious, For the regret-riddled, For the prideful, For the mistake-makers, For a faltering faith, and For those who hurt us. Each section contains a few stories that are focused on the topic at hand. While these stories are gleaned from previous works and complied together, they still help us focus powerfully on God's grace.
This book is a wonderful publication and is a recommended read or a good gift for someone struggling with their identity in Christ.

GraceCanadaAge: 18-24Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Second Chances by Max LucadoApril 25, 2013GraceCanadaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Max Lucado draws on the simplicity of the truth of what Jesus has done for us. I find that Max's books are discrepant reminders and avid thought provokers. This book details God's mercy evident in many different stories of the Bible, in Max's personal life, and of friends/acquaintances. Jesus is open armed and ready to take your burdens and give you rest in exchange. So often, we complicate things. We make it so complex, we slave away to be in control and fix ourselves. Jesus is willing to take it, no questions asked. He will receive us and we can take hope and courage to leave it at the cross. I think one of the most powerful chapters I read in this book was the one regarding the thief on the cross. They mock him as a king. If he were crazy, they would ignore him. If he had no followers, they'd turn him away. If he were nothing to fear, they wouldn't kill him. You only kill a king if he has a kingdom. This thief is at the lowest, being penalized for his crimes. He has nothing, and Christ is now everything. I would recommend this book to anyone who is either to prideful to realize their need or too shameful to look up. It's a beautiful truth.

He shares in this book stories of how as humans we will mess up, fall and fail.
But then he presents the story that we all are titled to have - a second chance.
And who would want to deny that story?
Personally, this is just a good affirmation or confirmation of what Jeremiah 29:11 means to us all - we have hope.
