Glenda5 Stars Out Of 5Second Chance Cafe - Excellent!September 22, 2016GlendaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Second Chance Caf, by Brandy Bruce, is a sweet story about firefighter Ethan and nurse Isabella who meet after Ethan is injured in an accident while attending a fire. Other than the brothers at the fire station, Ethan does not have any family members; however, Isabella comes from a large Italian family that owns two restaurants in the town. Both have busy lives with many responsibilities and have a tough time making time for each other. Ethan is a new believer and Isabellas faith has grown cold. This touching story shows how individuals learn that the Lord is in their lives during the struggles that exist. I enjoyed this book and plan to read other books by Ms. Bruce.

She's quite happy with her work as a nursing professional and doesn't really have time to get involved with a firefighter who doesn't really know how to take no for an answer. Even if he is rather yummy.
While being at odds while recuperating from an injury, Ethan ends up with a diner next door to the fire station. That's another strike against him. Isabella knows the toll owning restaurants has taken on family members plus she's also worked in the family business.
She wants no part of restaurants. Does Ethan even have half a chance of winning over Isabella now that he's gone and bought a restaurant? It certainly doesn't look like it.
Thank you, Brandy Bruce. I'm hoping you have more books with the Romano family lined up.

ShannahAge: 25-34Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Sweet, sweet novellaAugust 11, 2014ShannahAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I really, really enjoyed this story. From the first page, I was hooked. Brandy Bruce made the story flow effortlessly and kept me turning pages to reach the end. I really liked that, even though this was a novella, the author didn't have the characters unrealistically falling in love in 2 days. The passage of time was evident and I appreciated that.
The characters were my favorite. I really connected to both Isabella and Ethan. Both characters struggled and grew throughout the story. Their romance was sweet and developed at a natural pace. I loved how Ethan kept pursuing Isabella even when she was pushed him back. It's the kind of romance every girl dreams of!
The opening verse says this, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) That's the message throughout the book. Each character struggles to come to terms with the fact that having an abundant life means having a life that pleases God, even though it won't always be easy. As Isabella's mother reminds us, "An abundant life isn't necessarily an easy life. But it's beautiful."
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet novella.

LalaAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Another Amazing Novel by Brandy!August 10, 2014LalaAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I SO loved Second Chance Cafe! I really think that Brandy out did herself on this one! There was so much character depth and growth that I very easily related to Isa and Ethan!
However where Brandy definitely shined was the spirituality of this one! Wow! Talk about such a powerful Gospel truth message of trust and living a life of abundance in Christ! Throughout the novel I really reflected on the words written and how it could apply to my own life! Brandy so excellently weaved her faith in a bold way through every chapter as Isa and Ethan had different struggles! I was grateful to have read and experienced such a powerful message!
I also thoroughly enjoyed hearing more of Isa's story even if it was sometimes heart wrenching! Ethan was a great character as well and I really loved how Brandy uses him to show a perfect gentleman!
Overall, I was so inspired by Brandy's latest novel and also wanted someone to bring me some of the food made by Isa and Ethan! I highly recommend Second Chance Cafe to anyone who is looking for a novel of romance, but wants/needs real characters that learn/relearn the power of trust and love in Christ! Most definitely a 5 star novel!
