Seaside Secrets is a little more serious in nature, more than one character is dealing with PTSD, but is still filled with lots of spine-tingling suspense and romance.
This was a fun read because I could guess some things easily and others came as quite a surprise. For me, half the fun of reading a mystery or suspense novel is trying to solve the mystery or find the killer along with the characters.
And another thing I just have to mention, I'm a lighthouse fan and this cover is simply gorgeous. The storm clouds and rough seas also adds some delicious drama enticing you to read.
Seaside Secrets is a story you won't want to miss and I, for one, am looking forward to the next book in this exciting series from the talented Dana Mentink.

Melissa5 Stars Out Of 5Hooked from page one!!May 28, 2016MelissaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Seaside Secrets had me hooked from page one! This book is number two in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series, but can easily be read as a stand alone. The story centers around Angela Gallagher, a Navy chaplain, who sets out to help the brother of the assistant who gave his life to save her in combat. She is helped by Dr. Dan Blackwater, a surgeon, who was in the field with her when her assistant died. Both of them are thrown into the action as they are trying to figure out what is going on. They quickly figure out that people's stories are not adding up and they don't really know who can be trusted.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters and see first hand their battles with PTSD and their honesty about the struggles with their faith while staying on the edge of my seat to see what was going to happen next. This book kept me guessing until the very end! I would definitely recommend it. Once again, Dana Mentink found that perfect balance of romance and suspense!

NanceeGrand Rapids, MichiganAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Fast paced suspense!May 16, 2016NanceeGrand Rapids, MichiganAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5The second in the Pacific Coast Private Eyes series, Seaside Secrets is no disappointment! Dana Mentink never ceases to amaze me with her creativity in the suspense genre. This book can stand alone rather than as part of the series, but there are connections to the characters that enhance this book and brings some clarity to the plot.
This is a very fast paced suspense that kept me up past my bedtime, but there is so much action that I was unable to stop reading. One more chapter, then another, until my eyes were burning and I had to give it up. I commend this author for her ability to keep a plot moving at such a pace that the action never slows down. I found myself holding my breath at times!
Characters are deeply developed, lovable and unlikable. Personalities are varied and very diverse. Don't miss this great book. I look forward to Dana's Love Inspired Suspense books, and I'm already looking forward to the next in this series!

KavRCanadaGender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Thrill of a readMay 11, 2016KavRCanadaGender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Faith is front and centre in this page-turning suspense. Angela's struggles are so raw and honest and I appreciated sharing that journey with her. Plagued by wartime tragedy, she's off kilter, unable to completely trust herself...or her God...any more. There are some poignant scenes that touched my heart and bring depth to an already engaging read.
Mentink knows how to pull together an intriguing suspense. There's a host of interesting secondary characters and it took all my armchair sleuthing experience to figure things out....well, I got some of it right anyway. :-) Love it when I have to work as hard as the hero and heroine to bring the villains to justice.
And speaking of Dan and Angela -- phew -- an emotional romance that seems doomed from the start. Loved their angst-riddled meandering path towards a happily-ever after and Mentink makes them work for every moment.
A blissfully satisfying read that is sure to thrill romantic suspense lovers.
