Emilee and Janie move to Atlanta, Georgia to live with Janies very elderly mother in 1964, right in the midst of the civil rights movement, protest marches, and racial tension. Emilee begins school in Atlanta, where he meets the iconoclastic and conniving Miss Eternity Jones. Eternity and her siblings, Blithe and Jake, have about as many secrets as the still-missing Jean-Baptiste. Jean-Baptiste and his parents were part of the French Resistance during World War II, thus leaving many mysteries about Jean-Baptistes current work and whereabouts. Emilee and Eternity delve into the mysteries of the French Resistance, as well as the mysteries of their youthful hearts.
Overall, this book provided an adequate story. It starts out very slow, but once the mysteries and questions begin to fall into place, it picks up speed. Searching for Eternity would have made either a tantalizing spy novel or a heart-warming romance, but the two together made the book a concoction that seemed off-balance or misdirected.
Searching for Eternity comes with a message of love and forgiveness. And as many secrets are hidden and revealed in this book, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys searching out mysteries. -- Elizabeth Winebrenner, Christian Book Previews.com
