Product Description

One season, Erin Summerall contracted a virus that damaged her heart to the point that she required a transplant to live. She was blessed to have a matching donor, but something very strange started happening to her, almost as if she took on the personality of the heart donor. Her tastes changed in small and large ways, but most strange of all, were her "memories" of a murder she had never witnessed, but could give clear details of the scenes and location to the disbelieving police officer.

Unfortunately, her revelation exposed her as a "witness" who made her fear for both her mother and her daughter's life. To hide, she fled to a remote cottage that is only accessible by boat, on Hope Beach. Knowing she can trust Mark Everton with her life, she pleas for her. There's a catch; she never told Marc about being pregnant their daughter before she left the island. How can she bring the killer to justice and reconcile herself and Marc to the "new" Erin?

Publisher's Description

In a secluded corner of Hope Beach, one woman must decipher a stranger’s memories . . . before they cost her everything.

Elin Summerall was one of the lucky ones. Not only did she get a heart transplant, but the donor was a perfect fit. A miraculously perfect fit.

But when Elin begins having violent flashbacks—and vivid dreams of being strangled—she realizes that she has been the recipient of more than just a new heart . . . Elin is remembering her donor’s murder.

Her strange affliction has attracted some unwanted attention: from the press, from the authorities . . . and from the killer himself. Now, living alone with her young daughter and aging mother, Elin is being stalked—by a man she’s only met in her nightmares.

The police are dubious of her story, but one off-duty FBI agent agrees to help her: Agent Marc Everton.

Now, in a remote cottage on Hope Island, Elin and Marc must probe the secrets buried in her borrowed heart. And there’s no time to waste. One man is desperate to silence her—before she remembers too much.

    SEAGRASS PIER.

Seagrass pier is the third book in the Hope Beach series.

Erin Summerall has brought her mother and daughter Josie to Hope Beach in hope that the change of scenery will help her own health as well as her mother's dementia. Oh and to hide from the man who has been stalking her.

FBI Agent Marc Everton, comes to Hope Beach when he receives a frantic phone call from Erin, who is an old college sweetheart.

As with her other book, Collen Coble has written a wonderful page turning mystery, filled with characters that jump off the page and right into your heart. You love the heros and dislike the villains. The story itself was well written with lots of plot twists and turns and enough suspense to make you keep turning the page. We also get to visit with the characters from the first two books, which is always fun.

I part I struggled with is that the author had chosen Erin to have had a heart transplant and she then introduced the concept of "cell memory" into the story. Cell memory is a theory that our personality, our likes and dislikes are imprinted on our internal organs and when someone receives one of those organ, sometimes their personality changes. For instance they may have not like coffee but after the transplant they suddenly are drinking 4 cups a day, or maybe their favorite color was yellow and now it's suddenly red. Or they can have visions of the other persons life. There is such a fine line with this whole thing, but for me it came across to much as science fiction. I felt that the story could have worked just as well without this cell memory thing and that Erin and Marcus were smart enough to figure things out on their own. This is just my opinion and I do not take away any stars because it. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Elin Summerall is alive and well; with someone else's heart and apparently someone else's memory. Vivid nightmares recalling the hazy details of her donor's murder are becoming reality, especially when an alleged stalker becomes brazen enough to break into her home; putting Elin, her young daughter and her aging mother at risk. Moving her family to a remote cottage on Hope Island gives her a brief sense of security, but trouble seems to follow Elin; especially when FBI Agent Marc Everton gets involved, in more ways than one.

Marc Everton has not seen Elin Summerall in years and a previous encounter produced a daughter that he never knew he had. He has been aware that Elin was recently widowed and became the recipient of a heart transplant, but his investigation of a co-worker's murder brings him directly to Elin's front door. Highly skeptical of Elin's "cell memory" at first, he quickly puts credence in her recollections when they dig a little deeper into the facts of the case. And it is obvious that someone is desperate to silence Elin . . . . . for good. And what about Elin? And what about their daughter? Marc and Elin are faced with some important decisions . . . . if they live long enough to make them.

The pace of this romantic suspense quickly accelerates by the middle of the book; Colleen Coble has written another really good story!
