ScriptureDoodle was created by April Knight. The website says its mission is "to inspire connection with the Father, develop community amongst creatives who love the Word of God, and resource that community with the tools to enhance their gifts and talents."

The basic idea of ScriptureDoodle is to help the reader think on and memorize scripture by writing it out along with drawing and doodling. I received two books, ScriptureDoodle and ScriptureDoodle God's Promises. As soon as I opened the pages of the ScriptureDoodle books I thought of the Fun Pads I enjoyed as a kid. Each page of the ScriptureDoodle books is unique. They have devotions that can be done once a day for six weeks. But the author says to work at your own pace. I did read through each one for this review but in reality I think I will do about one a week. A few aspects of the physical books I like are that the pages are thick and the corners are rounded, something little that makes them different that most books out there. I think the devotionals will work for those who are creative and those who are not. April gives lots of examples and ideas of how to do the doodles along the way so the reader is never without inspiration. I recommend the ScriptureDoodle books as a great way to learn scripture and being creative while doing it. I was provided a complimentary review copy of both books. I was not required to write positive reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255.

Scripture Doodle Gods Promises is done in the same format of Scripture Doodle, only this time the 6-week devotional focuses on Gods promises. This devotional walks us through the promises showing us that He is more than sufficient for us, that His character itself is faithful and trustworthy. This hybrid devotional and coloring book lets us be creative and I like that as a particular truth is focused on we can create it on the paper and on our mind, hopefully remembering it always. The drawings are simple and clean, giving us a jump start to our own creativity. This was a nice something different that stands out combining a devotional and a coloring book.

I received a free copy of this book from Litfuse. I was not required to post a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

I've been wanting to dive deeper into the Scriptures after going through my Bible now for a third time. Even though I find new meaning each time, I revisit those familiar books I wanted more in my personal study and devotions. Now there is a great way to do just that, thanks to April Knight, author of Scripture Doodles and Scripture Doodles: God's Promises. These beautiful books incorporate a deeper study into the promises we find in the Bible along with some colorful coloring to accompany your personal or small group studies. Each of these books incorporates a six-week devotional experience for the reader through your own individual creative expressions with God.

There are enough exercises to do one per day for six weeks with a few bonuses at the end, but you can work at your own pace or with a small group Bible study meeting one a week. It is intended to be progressive, so you might want to follow the books in chronological order, but you might want to jump around to whatever inspires you or for a specific Bible Book study you might be working on. There are no rules and the only way to do it wrong is simply to not do it at all.

Some things you need to have on hand when completing either book is a Bible, a sharp pencil or two any color, pencil sharpener, a large eraser, colored pencils or your media of choice, pastels, ruled notebook paper (for lettering practice) and some blank index cards. The books come with some great tips to get you started. Each exercise begins with a Bible verse and proceeds into a creative worship activity. Don't worry about trying to be perfect, just go with what creativeness you feel at the time and let God inspire you. The books also encourage you to share your creations with others at (at)scripturedoodle or (hashtag)scripturedoodle.

I received Scripture Doodle and Scripture Doodle: God's Promises by April Knight compliments of David C Cook Publishers and Litfuse Publicity. For me, these books have allowed me not only to focus on specific Scriptures in the exercises but to remember these verses better, something I have been struggling with more as I get older. Now I can create something truly beautiful while I work on these each day. I would love to get a group together to work on them over the duration of a year and share not only our own artistic creations but also to see what God does in each of our lives along the way. I would easily give these books a 5 out of 5 stars.
