We are a month from closing the school year and have almost completed this course. It has been a pleasure and inspiration to read through these books! I wanted to incorporate a bible study course that parallels the time period we were studying in World History for my daughter's 11th grade year - Modern Times, 1850-Present - and specifically was hoping for a study of mission outreaches during that period. This course wonderfully met my hopes in that regard. We re-ordered the books chronologically, and dropped Flagellant on Horseback because it did not fit our time period (and its writing style is rather chaotic). Here is the order in which we read them:

    1) C.T. Studd

    2) Peril By Choice

    3) The Triumph of John and Betty Stam

    4) Beyond the Next Mountain

    5) Peace Child

I also dropped Give Up Your Small Ambitions because it is quite dated in its assessment of modern missions, having been written in 1970 (this drawback plus the unsatisfactory "Flagellant" account for my 4 star rating) But don't let that stop you from doing this course! These books detail out the commitment, sacrifice, sufferings, discernment, and heartfelt love of the subject missionaries - compelling attributes that bridge any time period. The calling, working, and leading of the Holy Spirit in the lives of these humble & hopeful people is portrayed powerfully in each story. The strength each person derives from marriage and family also shines through the storyline.

The course is set up to be a semester course, however we spread the books throughout the year to better correspond to our historical studies. When we had a gap in the books I had my daughter do bible readings from Read Thru the Bible in 90 Days, filling out the full credit timetable perfectly. We found the worksheets to be somewhat tedious, so I alternated the assignments for each book between the worksheet/test pamphlets with written essays.

If you are looking for a course that will boost your child's commitment to serving Christ, this is it. My daughter has served in the church for several years already via drama, singing, and VBS teaching, and is now considering something more advanced such as YWAM or theological training. And, be sure to read these books before you assign them to your kids, you'll certainly be blessed.

I purchased this thinking it was all that was needed for the course. Each PACE requires the purchase of a separate book .I planned to use this in the fall as an inexpensive Bible elective and it turns out by the time I purchase all the needed books ( used) it will have cost me quite a bit. I can't give an honest review on the curriculum itself because I haven't use it yet but I can give you a little info from what I have seen. The first couple of pages of each PACE is full of very difficult terminology/vocabulary that the student is to learn. Each PACE suggests that the student write an essay about the book. There are some facts spread about regarding each location and some geography is included. Considering my son already uses living books for his literature and history I'm not sure how much extra time he will have for 6 more novels. Possibly we can spread it out over two years or I might be able to convince him to complete this over the summer. I really want him to have a love for missions and was excited to see this curriculum choice offered at such a reasonable price. Similarly, the

spanish paces require extra resources as well. Just wanted to make sure you are aware that you do need to purchase more books to complete this curriculum.

I feel very disappointed in this product as I thought I was purchasing an elective in full for my daughter. Nowhere did it state in the write up that you had to purchase 7 additional books to complete the curriculum. I am sure it is a fine program once you purchase all the books necessary to go along with each pace... However, by the time you do that, the curriculum is much too expensive. If I was going to spend that amount I surely would have picked a different selection. That being said... on the whole I really like the pace curriculum, this is the first to really disappoint.
