Physical scars represent a story, a moment in one's life, and they show others that there is a history of healing. Noted author Sharon Jaynes shares with women how their internal scars—marks from past hurts and mistakes—also represent a story of restoration.
With empathy, personal insight, and a best friend's gentle spirit, Sharon helps readers:
- recognize Jesus through their scars
- receive grace and forgiveness
- remove the mask and be real
- restore the broken heart
- release the power of healed wounds
Encouraging chapters, inspirational stories, godly wisdom, and a Bible study guide lead readers to give their wounds to the One who sees their beauty and who turns hurts into hope.
Sharon Jaynes is an international inspirational speaker and Bible teacher for women’s conferences and events. She is also the author of several books, including Becoming the Woman of His Dreams and Becoming Spiritually Beautiful. Sharon and her husband, Steve, have one grown son, Steven, and live in North Carolina.
As a woman who bears scars herself, Jaynes knows what shes talking about. She is the daughter of a former alcoholic and grew up amidst her parents rocky marriage. As an adult, she miscarried her second child. But she has learned to allow God to heal others through her wounds, and she now writes to show us how to do the same. With remarkable candor, she moves from acknowledging the scars existence to seeing its purpose, then from accepting Gods grace and forgiveness to releasing the power of our scars to heal others.
Your Scars Are Beautiful to God is written well and its message is clear. The tone is gentle and open like a tell-everything friend. Jaynes fills the pages with biblical principles and illustrations as well as with personal stories from her years of ministry. She also includes a Bible study guide in the back. Although an emphasis on relationships and feelings slants the book more toward a female audience, it would be useful to anyone who is dealing with wounds from a troubled past. However, the very candidness that makes the book so accessible is its greatest limiter; much of the subject matter is inappropriate for children and young teens.
Are there beautiful scars in your life that need to be revealed? Jaynes asks. I wonder what God wants to accomplish through you. I wonder how long Hes been waiting for you to remove the covering. Dont be ashamed of your scars, for it is by those very scars that the world will recognize the Savior, Healer, and Lord. Jaynes book is just like the scars its written about: raw, personal, sometimes painful, but always purposeful. To anyone who bears scarswhether from mistakes and heartbreaks or from abuse and deceptionand to anyone who wants to minister to the hurting, I highly recommend Your Scars Are Beautiful to God. "With honesty and personal vulnerability, Sharon Jaynes openly shares the hurts of her past and uses the pain as a platform upon which others can find fresh faith and renewed courage. Your Scars Are Beautiful to God is filled with stories of people who chose positive action steps based on biblical truth in the middle of devastating personal challenges. The Bible Study Guide makes it an ideal ministry tool for small groups and for personal application. This book is for everyone who has had a less-than-perfect life."
—Carol Kent, speaker and author of When I Lay My Isaac Down
"As I read, and loved, Sharon Jaynes' book, I was reminded of a quote from Romeo and Juliet: 'He jests at scars that never felt a wound'. Most of us have been wounded in life, and all of us can learn much from someone who takes 'scars' seriously. In this book, you'll not only reflect on your own scars—but understand why Jesus made such a point of pointing out His scars as well. Please read this book if you've been hurt, or if you're serious about helping someone else who carries scars from their past or present hurts. Or just read it to learn more about the One whose nail-pierced hands offer each of us a world of help and hope in these challenging times."

Some of us however, have been living with our hurts for so long that we don't have a clue as to how to give them up. This book talks about how to share our hurts, our scars, and why we need to share them with other women. It helps us gain the courage to open the cage of guilt that we have been living in and accept the forgiveness that God offers us because of the blood of Jesus Christ.
I admit, it was a very difficult book for me to get through because of all the personal stories the author presents, but I am so glad that I took the time for this book. This is a must read of all women.

Jeanette Avila5 Stars Out Of 5September 21, 2009Jeanette AvilaThis book has changed my life. I had been drawing closer to God for some time, but now there was work to do to go further. God gave me this book through a friend and it has become my favorite book, second only to the Bible. I savored every word and the Study guide helped me to understand why we go through things and how God uses it for his glory. We can keep making the wound bleed, or let it heal into a beautiful scar to show others what God has done in our lives. I see the purpose of my pain and now he will be able to use it. A very important chapter to me was 6 which included a step-by-step way to forgive. I was able to forgive my dad, the people who killed my sisters and many, many more. Thank you God for using Sharon to bring this book into my life. Thank you for the joy the healing has brought my soul.
