Oh my. This book is not worth $1 let alone $14. Twelve pages are a blank calendar, the next 3 unnecessary calendar-related pages, 4 pages are number strips that basically have strips of 10 squares lined up on them, and the remaining 3 pages (because it actually starts on page 3), are unnecessary graphs. Please, save your money. I wish I had read the other reviews before I purchased this.
This is our third year using the Saxon program so I purchased the Meeting Book as required (from a different site but this is where I would normally purchase). I was disappointed that I had paid for basically a blank calendar. There are about 3 very simple table graphs that you could very easily do without this book if they just told you what they wanted. This book should be about $2-4 at the most. Grades 1 and 2 Meeting Books were great and very helpful. This just seemed like they wanted to keep the same format so made a Meeting Book that is an unnecessary expense.
I am a first year homeschooling mom and this is very useful during our math lessons. To some people it may seem repetitive to use for every lesson but after only a few days, my daughter was using this as a reference and study tool. It helps to build the most basic math skills and the book helps to enhance the lessons.
Note: You could very easily make due without the meeting book by completing the meeting section of the lesson orally or at the board with your child.
The Saxon Math 3 meeting book was not worth the $12. It's 24 pages, and 12 are labeled with months and a grid to fill in. Four are blank number strips. Also, there's a number line, a place to write number words, a place to list measurements, and a place to list birthdays. It arrived today and will be returned tomorrow.
I've used Saxon for all my kids math after 3rd grade and have appreciated it very much. The third grade is a little disappointing and confusing (there are too many pieces). I thought the Meeting Book an un-necessary purchase.
