Reba3 Stars Out Of 5Not very challenging for a new 3rd grader...disappointedJune 24, 2020RebaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 2My son completed 2nd Grade using the Saxon Math 2 program. He really enjoyed it and the work was challenging enough. Math 2 ends with a final lesson on dividing a number by 2. Great! So it would seem Math 3 would pick-up where Math 2 leaves off. No. The first lesson in the Math 3 program is about telling time to the nearest hour. What?!? This is such a huge step backwards and is seems to undo all of the hard work from the Math 2 program: multiplication tables, two-and three digit addition/subtraction, fractions. There is very little new until maybe Lesson 48 in Math 3 and even after that it seems pretty easy. I understand Saxon is built on repetition. Great! But this seems demeaning to the student to start back at the beginning of Grade 2 in Grade 3.
I would still recommend this product but I would supplement it with more challenging work and Khan Academy.
Irene5 Stars Out Of 5good for special needsDecember 11, 2017IreneQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This works well for my son with special needs. He enjoys the predictability of the lessons. I don't need to use a lot of verbal instruction for this. We do not do all of the review available or use the flash cards at all. He does not need flashy pictures; he does better with black and white pages. He is making steady progress.

christine5 Stars Out Of 5FINALLY!October 3, 2014christineQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5Last year, our Math book, for my son, stank. It didn't give enough practice, and went on to the next lesson. My son was lost. He's in 4th, but he thought he didn't learn much at all. He requested that we do 3rd grade Math again, and of course, I agreed. We are going at a faster pace, and he's really enjoying it. He loves that I have a script to ask him questions and do certain activities. I love that time too! He and I feel that it gives him enough practice, (especially for the Math Facts), and he's feeling very confident with it. I'm SO glad that we tried Saxon Math. Our other kids have Saxon 2 and 7/6 and they all agree that they love the repeat practice. It was a little expensive for us, BUT WORTH IT! So pleased!
emilyinidaho5 Stars Out Of 5very goodOctober 3, 2014emilyinidahoQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5this is our first year homeschooling. and our first math curriculum. my son is in third grade, but i didn't feel he had a super grasp on math. i decided to take it slow and go with saxon 3. i bought this kit with the manipulatives hoping it would be more fun for him. it is working out very well for us. so far there havent been a lot of lessons including the manipulatives, but he loves it when we use them.
the math lessons are very straightforward and easy for both of us to use. so far its very remedial but it looks like by the end of the year he will have moved into new math territory for him
