KarenNorth CarolinaAge: 45-54Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5Too much time and frustrationJune 29, 2012KarenNorth CarolinaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleMy son has used Saxon very successfully since 1st grade until he got halfway through Algebra 1. The concepts are not presented in a rational progression; today's topic may be totally unrelated to yesterday's and tomorrow's topics. Also, there are never enough new concept problems to work through in order to thoroughly cement each day's lesson in the student's understanding. My son needed many more new concept problems and less review problems on each lesson and better continuity. He was constantly having to review previous lessons. We are using a different curriculum now which great success and enjoyment.
WI MomAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Love the CDsFebruary 10, 2011WI MomAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I just received this kit today, and I am loving the teacher lesson & test cds. The simulated whiteboard is amazing! My daughter goes to public school, and has always had trouble understanding math. We use the Saxon curriculum as a way to help her at home. We do lessons in the summer months to keep her in a math state of mind. Worth every penny.
Patsy Ross5 Stars Out Of 5September 28, 2009Patsy RossI homeschool my two 9th grade granddaughters. We are using Saxon Math with Saxon teacher and we love it. The teacher's demonstrations and explanations of each problem is so clear that the girls are actually enjoying math this year. Thank you for this new help.
Q: Does this include the Solutions manual and if not do I need it if I purchase the homeschool kit with the Saxon teacher cds
This kit does not contain the Solutions Manual. However, the Saxon Teacher CDs contain step-by-step solutions to the practice problems, problem sets, and tests, so the Solutions Manual would be optional.
Q: In what way(s) do the Teacher CD and the DIVE DVD differ in presentation of the "whiteboard" material for Algegra 1? And in what other ways to these differ?
"DIVE" (Digital Interactive Video Educator) is an excellent tutorial, and uses different illustrations than those presented in the Saxon Textbook. It does not have solutions to the problem sets.
"Saxon Teacher" contains the lesson instructions, practice problems and problem sets as they are presented in the Saxon Textbook, with some additional commentary. "Saxon Teacher" can also serve as a solutions manual for the practices, lessons and tests.
Q: What is the year of publication and CD rom?
The book has a copyright date of 2003 and the cd-rom has a copyright date of 2009. They are both the third edition though.
